Question about tuning

2004 6MT coupe G35. Exhaust/Intake.

I was asking a couple different shops for a quote on tuning my car and one of them told me if he were me, he wouldn't do it. He said I would see gains of only 10ish hp with the mods that I have. Speaks the truth? Is it worth it? I'm going to get a spacer, he said even after that it wouldn't be worth it. Only worth it when you're going turbo/supercharge/nitrous.

Any help, greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The way i hear it is that a tune is good that it ties in all the after market parts together. If your going to still do bolt ons, just wait till your finish. Unlike me where i will have to go back in after i get my headers. But i would wait till you have everything then go for your tune. Spacer is good, it will allow for your car to breath better.

If you plan on doing more aftermarket adding just wait because anything you add after the tune will need a retune and your talking about the same your spending now.

Eh. After I add a spacer I'm going to be done. Anything after that, would I'm guessing be a Turbo kit which is too rich for my blood right now.

So no tune it is! Thanks for saving me money guys!

IMHO a tune is definitely worth it for a number of reasons. Once you add the spacer your car will be running very lean which can be dangerous for the car. The tune will fix the AFR and offers a lot of other benefits. With intake, spacer, exhaust, and a tune I have gained 35 HP/TQ over stock and the car runs infinitely better/smoother.

But it's your choice.......

Not only will a tune offer better peak numbers for hp/tq, but it will give you much better drive-ability. Peak numbers aren't everything, ya know?

With your current mods all you need is a Motordyne 5/16" spacer and HFCs (high flow cats) and you'll need a Osiris tune due to a lean condition. The results are generally +25 RWHP and just under 20 LBS Torque gains. These are improvements you can feel the minute you turn the key and what will put a smile on your face....
