Hi All,
This is my first post on this forum
I'm a new G35 owner, bought a 06 G35 Coupe 6MT with 64000 Miles couple of weeks ago. I recently noticed that there is a weird grinding/knocking noise from the engine some times, like sometimes when I got home, I stopped at the mail box, when I got off the car, i hear the sound , after I got my mail and came back to the car, it's gone. another case is when I drive at low speed in the local when window is down, I can hear some grinding noise especially at 2nd or 3th gear.
do you guys have any idea?

Thanks

Welcome to DRIVER Charles! Noises are difficult to pin point especially when you posted it's infrequent. If it's in your trans throwout bearing can make some nasty sounds and even freeze up when they get worn enough. I'd find a transmission shop and have them check it out. An '06 MT with a REVUP motor, check your oil level frequently. Are you aware what the letters OC imply? Oil Consumption, poor quality rings causing eventual engine failure. Not an issue in all G35s but it is an issue....Gary

Thanks Gray!
maybe I'll try to find a transmission shop and check it out.
I am aware of the oil consumption issue, not sure about others, doing some research now.
one more question is , as the powertrain is still under warranty, do you think it's a good idea to check it in the dealership?

Thanks

Charles

^^ haha. These tend to be noisy transmissions and the throwout bearings go out like crazy. Mine is in need of replacing

went to the dealership today, I'm probably getting a new gearbox as the car is still covered by warranty.
