clokwork-
I had a modded 98 Prelude which I thought was a kick-*** car for looks and handling
but lacked acceleration unless I kept using the nitrous button....so got a 02WRX
and modded to achieve both acceleration and handling. Both were super fun cars, but
lacked refinement... so sold the WRX and got the G35C. My G35C is not setup for
performance, rather for dressup and touring around town in a sleeper form since I
got tired of kids trying to race me at each stop.

I also have a modded 03 Cooper-S I use to drive spiritedly on the weekends which
handles completely differently than the G35C and adds more variety to my fun.
The G35C is a beautiful car.

I hope all goes well with this purchase

refined to a certain extent...remember that it is a $35K car, not a s-class benz. For the money, no other car even compares. You'll be more than happy with your purchase, and all the little rattles and problems give u something to work on during your free time...at least thats how i see it...haha

I had a 03 TL typeS and went into a 04 RSX... had the car for little less than a week and decided to get a G also... The difference I think for sure was with the clutch and the weight difference... the G felt a lot heavier...

The G's little problems are absolutely nothing compared to the problems of a lot of other cars (many that are more expensive)- read the customer reviews on edmunds.com of cars like the new BMW 7-series- electrical problems out the wazoo and cars constantly in the shop....cars made in Japan are still the best. I'd rather have a few rattles than electrical problems every 1000 miles. My G Coupe hasn't rattled yet, though, as of 2700 miles.

My current '01 Acura Cl-s (lease goes back in 2 weeks) has had a few problems, no less than the G35 problems.
1) Replaced auto transmission at 20k miles (recent recall)
2) Rotors warped countless times
3) Rattle in the back right area above 70mph
4) Radio controls are useless. If i try to turn the volume up it goes no where, if i try to turn it down it goes up! I have to use the steering wheel controls.
5)Electrical problems, vanity light doesn't work sometimes, dome light doesn't work if you touch it.

So every car has its problems, even acura, bmw, you name it.

This seems like the best car out of all the cars I have owned. It is reasonably practical, and has great performance. Of course, I do miss the handling of the RX-7 and the power of the Supra, but this is the best all-around car there is in $30k range.

like someone said before... with cars with tight suspensions, some rattles may develope... people pretty much covered most of it...

i have driven the RSX too and the G is MUCH more powerful
but the rsx has a much better tranny. The stick is alot smoother, and clutch easier.. but this may be because it has less power... but since the RSX has one of the best clutch/shifter feel i suppose you can only fall under that...

but other than the clutch/shifter feel being a little less natural everything else should be a step up... except gas mileage MUCH worse than the almost eco friendly rsx

I dont have a 6MT but have been told if you get a short shifter for the G the shifting will feel like butter. If I had a manual I'd definitely get that because when I test drove it, the shifting was a bit notchy for me - unlike my past BMW which was like a hot knife through butter.

I have had my 02 RSX type S for around 2 years now. When I bought it, it was one of the peppiest 4 cylinder rides out there and was fun to rev high. For some odd reason, at the age of 26, I am starting to feel old and now find refinement more attractive. The G35 coupe has always been attractive to me but was out of my price range a few years back, but with a few job hops and relo, Im finally here. Out of all cars, this is my choice without question. After test driving the 04 a couple times, this is quite a car.

I will be ordering an 05 6MT with the works in a couple of weeks.

What can any of you guys tell me about your transitions from your last car to this one?

I will be reading the forums closely which may answer this last question, but have the recent coupes suffered any major or really irritating problems??

much thanks
Thats funny! I am also a ex-RSX Type-S owner of 2 years and the same age of 26. I am definitely feeling the G now and getting super excited.
