2 mufflers vs 1

wassup everybody. i have a questions and i'm hoping that someone can answer it for me.

I'm looking into getting exhaust work done. I've seen G35 Coupes with 2 mufflers and I've seen some with 1.

the question is...whats the difference in the 2 setups?

would depend how you run the two mufflers. if you go with a true dual setup it would make a difference.
unless youre just doing a y-back then one muffler is just one muffler and two would just be two. dont think itll make a big difference except for price.

Best exhaust system for our G35s is twin 2.50" pipe from the cats back to a x-pipe that leads to individual mufflers exiting the rear one each side. The greatest amount of restriction within the system is in the OE cats, replaceing them with HFCs (high flow cats) allows you another 8 RWHP and a very sweet sound....more than you needed to know? lol

The shop that i talked to said that they would install an H pipe with dual mufflers for $300. Ive also seen a Nismo setup with the stock look muffler.

I guess the question that i am trying to ask is.....which setup will give me the better sound? I'm looking for a deeper stock sound.

Taavon, if you're going to have one made make sure they use the Magnaflow X-Pipe that's way better than normal crossovers cause it blends pulses from both banks for a quick transition....Gary

Don't get an H pipe. If anything get the X pipe like Gary said.

gary c pretty much said it all. Get the x-pipe, don't bother wasting your time and money on an h-pipe.

One reason you see dual and single after market exhausts on the coupes at least is because a lot of FI guys go single and a larger diameter pipe
