You want to really careful about trying to clean a MAF. You should NOT use carburetor cleaner or brake cleaner. I think a company came out with special MAF cleaner but I don't know if it is truly safe to use.
There is another product that runs a small hose behind the air filter and connects to a pressurized can that sprays a cleaner into the intake system while you run the engine. I am not sure if it thoroughly clean the MAF.
Fyi - if you are removing the sensor to clean it, make sure you disconnect the battery before unplugging the wires to the sensor.
Good luck with your project.

Most auto parts stores carry spray to clean this sender, unhook/unscrew and remove then spray carefully. Air dry and reinstall. Make sure your air filter is clean, you wouldn't take a shower then put dirty sox on While you're cleaning remove the negative side of your battery to clear the SES warning. Drive your car, hopefully the SES warning is a thing of the past....Gary
