OP fail, VDC off and take it to the track, decent driving you should win, I raced on closed course with slipping clutch and pulled 1/2 car ( exhaust, hf cats, intake) With a clutch I would have pulled much harder. GTI had exhaust upgrade..

 

Sound like your driving sucks or you have extra weight or big rims I would never think a gti would pull on you !!! Your an 05 rev up get a mrev 2 nd a spacer or something personally I never raced a 2012 raced a 2010 and straight walked him nd I'm a auto from my experience the rev ups are pretty quick . Practice your launching and your shifting your starting in the wrong gears

40mph in 3rd? You would lose to anything. Also, if a front wheel drive car is putting 2 lengths on you in first then you should stop racing completely.

Starting in 3rd is your problem.. You should start in reverse, it engages the secret turbo!

 

Or just say you're on Texas 130 where the speed limit is 85mph....

I was hanging out with a buddy yesterday from Texas who is here for a few months for work, and hew as telling me about how they have that new 85 MPH highway speed limit on some highway in Texas. That rules!
