My G has been keyed
So as of right now, I have reported this to the campus police and my case has been approved. Unfortunately, there are no cameras in the parking lots here so there is probably no chance that this person gets into any trouble. Again thanks for the help guys and I hope to have some pictures of a freshly painted G in the coming weeks.
well i dont recommend you to file a claim with your insurance like what the other guys said, unless you are planning to switch to another company anyway. Thats to prevent your rate from skyrocketing. There will always be jealus people out there who doesnt understand what a goal is. Instead of an actual goal, they be dumba$$ and make ruining others stuff a goal.
^^ not sure about CA but I have Geico here in New York, been using them for the last 10 years. I don't make that many claims, made one because I used to have a cheap portable garage at home and it fell on my 06 Mustang during a snow storm, damaging he roof, rear glass and windshield. The secod claim was last year when my wife totalled one of my cars. None of those two claims increased my premium in any way. You pay insurance to cover things like this. I just hate when people want to take advantage and try to submit claims for every little thing.

Insurance pays for this. Its vandalism. As long as you carry COMPREHENSIVE coverage you are good to go. The only thing you'll have to pay is your deductible; which can vary from $0 to $2,500 depending on what Coverages and Deductibles you chose to purchase.
I recommend making a claim. I cant see the pics (blocked from work), but from what you've described it sounds like the repairs will call for basically a re-spray. Not sure what something like that costs where you live - but in Toronto it can cost upwards of $3000 if done by a reputable shop.
With paint, you get what you pay for. You can probably get some local guy with a booth to paint it for $1,000 but at the end of the day it'll look like **** and will probably show major signs of discolouration in just a few short years.
Just my 0.02

What in the hell is going on? People keying cars like crazy lately...
My friend just had her Altima keyed in her apartment complex about a month ago. And a buddy just bought a new Fiat 500, and had it keyed within three days of buying it. And I've seen three or four other keyed car threads in the last month.
OP, I'd file a police report. Are you sure there weren't any cameras around where your car was parked that you could potentially ask to watch to see if you can catch the perp?

I'd rather pay my deductible than have to pay the total bill for the repair. When that car was totaled they actually gave me a check for about $2k more than what I could have gotten for that car in good condition. When the Mustang was damaged I would have had to pay over $2K for the repair.
As long as you have full coverage an incident like vandalism will be covered by your insurance company and you'll need to pay a deductible. Under these circumstances your rates will not go up. Wouldn't it be cool if you could just once catch a hater destroying someones property? Probably wouldn't occur in states where they have "Carry Laws!"
