Caliper bushing

I had a mechanic come over to my house to look at my car. Car makes some noises when i apply brakes. He took it for a test drive and told me the caliper bushings was the issue. I'm not too familiar with the caliper bushings. I've never heard of a caliper bushing going bad. It's only my front driver side. I know its an easy and cheap fix. But do they even sell caliper bushing kits or would i need to buy an entire caliper. He said he wasnt sure if they sell those bushings anymore. He seemed pretty sure. Nonethless, what are yalls opinion. Car makes a grinding/scraping noise. This can be heard at low speeds. I thought the issue was just bad/loose hardware

Not sure what is a caliper bushing, either, maybe he is talking about the piston seals?

Caliper bushings? This may be one of those left handed monkey wrench jokes, call Infiniti parts and ask them for the parts number. If you hear laughter on the other end hang up so you won't be embarrassed further....

He could be talking about the little rubber bushing on one of the caliper pins. But these usually swell up (using wrong type of brake lube for example) and get stuck rather than make noise. NAPA sell a bushing kit which consists of new boots and the pin bushing for a wallet busting $5.79 + s&h: http://www.napaonline.com/Catalog/Ca...987_0324826854

How are your pads? When the get low they can make more noise. Or if they were replaced recently, maybe someone forgot to re-install the shims (guilty of this once) and that could make things noisy.

This thread has a nice picture of the "brake bushing" on the slider pin: http://www.350z-tech.com/forums/176-...ider-pins.html

this noise happens anytime I appy brakes. More noticeable at low speeds. ONLY when I apply the brakes. I'm gonna get a second opinion from my personal mechanic. I didn't want to take the 20 mile drive but I will now.

Hello Adil, did you ever find the problem with your brakes? I am having the same problem
(I think), at low speeds 5 -15 km/hr, I hear a scrapping noise think is coming from front brakes then when I barely touch the brake pedal there is a louder noise..... then at the stop point I hear a knock.... not sure if the knock its the sway bar links (they look fine and seem to be tight), but I know the scrapping sound (speed related) at low speed can't be the links.
There is not pulsation on the pedal, rotors and pads are fine......
There is a TBS for the slider pin ITB 11-050, but it should not apply to my car (2008 G35X); any ideas, its driving me crazy.

It was the wheel bearing. If one of yours is bad, don't replace 1 of them. Replace them as a pair. If you replace one, the other will go bad. But it was easy fix, simply a wheel bearing

Hey man, thanks!
A question: how do you know the wheel bearing is done??
Beside the noise is there another way to diagnose, what about lifting the car and shaking the tire? Does it work?

Wheel hub and spindle could be loose. And wheel play are some symptoms. Your car could also be pulling to one direction. If you've had excessive wear on front suspension parts, they would have put stress on the wheel bearing
