Does the US G35C = JPN 350GT? (could be a very stupid question)

About 2 months ago I told a guy from work that I was thinking of getting a g35 coupe and he said I should just get the skyline. I didn't know a whole lot about the skyline but i was almost positive that they weren't in the states and I told him they were in japan and in europe. He didn't believe me and said he sees them all the time on the road, I said thats funny because the other day I saw a Chevy S-10 Type R, so they must be making those too!

He ended up betting me $100 that they make them here, man, I need to prove this to him, thats the hard part.

Email Nissan customer service and forward him the email saying that they don't make it here.
He sees them all the time, what?!?!? Where? I have never seen any yet on the road. You guys must be in Cali.

Well, I *think* it's the lil' mountain-like Infiniti logo on the front and back of the car. Just heard it called that a few times, so I assumed that's what it was.

I'm just not sure if it's Mt. Fuji or Mt. Fiji...

i always thought that the infiniti logo meant like an infinite road going into the horizon.

I think of it as a play on the "infinity" symbol on its side.

www.infiniti.com
www.edmunds.com

You won't find a single reference to a USDM Skyline on either of those sites. Show those to him and collect your bill.

The difference in the seats are minimal, pretty much instead of having the Infiniti Logo and name stitched, it will say NISSAN SKYLINE *iirc*
there are more difference then that

exterior
Nissan front badge (require full front grille for 03-04 sedan)
Nissan rear badge
Skyline lettering
350GT badge
Nissan center cap on wheels
Amber color rear turn signal
also Engine cover needs to be replaced for Nissan one with the Nissan badge

interior
03-04 trim = you can not do full coversion

JDM
no analog clock
Suede/Leather seats no logo.
airbag cover with Nissan logo
Skyline kicker plate

pretty much the same difference on the 05 model, but you can get rid of the analog clock and replace it with the JDM HVAC display that has the digial clock

other then those, our G35 has the excact same chassis code as the JDM models. and the coupes are only offered in 3.5L engine. so yes, our car is the 350GT trim

in 2005, there are only 2 engine offered for the entire V35 range. which is the VQ25DD and the VQ35DE.
the VQ25DD is only found on sedan and comes in the following packages
w/4AT, w/5AT and w/5AT + AWD

the VQ35DE models on the sedan are offered with 5AT, 8CVT or 6MT
the coupe only have 5AT and 6MT

Skyline has NO ANALOG CLOCK!!!

I was waiting for someone else to bring it up, and Hyde finally did......the Skyline does not have THE CLOCK!!!!!!

That beautiful analog clock in the middle of your dash is strictly a Infiniti item and is not present on the Skyline 350GT.

Just an additional note, I read in Autoweek that Nissan will begin marketing under the Infiniti marque in Japan this year (2005). Our Japanese friends love the Infiniti brand name and convert their Skyline's to Infiniti's. The main conversion problem they run into is that they find it hard to get the beautiful Infiniti Clock in the middle of their dash.

Heh, well, even more reason to make an Infiniti Skyline 350GT

So, the plan is:
Jan
1.) de-badge, tint, front plate adapter, and just get used to the friggin' thing.

March
2.) skyline badge, 350gt badge, skyline rear plate frame, skyline kickplates, *considering* new fenders:

May
3.) *contemplating* flashing the ECU, K&N filter, Stillen Exhaust

Not that I won't be happy w/ the car stock, but if I'm gonna do anything to it, those are the things.

This is the first I have heard of this. I know that Toyota is starting to sell Lexus in Japan, but have yet to hear anything about Infiniti coming to Japan. I wish it would because I am getting ready to by a Skyline coupe and would much rather have the Infiniti. I like the badging and analog clock, but like I said I haven't heard anything about Infiniti coming so I will place my order at the Nissan dealer.

Desperately seeking G35 in Japan.

If I recall correctly, Nissan plans to begin selling the Infiniti Line in the Middle East first (the first time the Line will be marketed outside the US), then in South Korea, and then will decide in 4/2005 as to whether to sell in Japan for later in the 2005 year. I believe Autoweek had a short blurb on this about 'going world wide' in their M45 article http://www.autoweek.com/article.cms?articleId=101448, but it was in this other article http://www.iht.com/articles/2004/12/...berg/sxgm.html that states about the upcoming decision. Remember that Toyota will be launching their Lexus line in Japan and Nissan is looking at doing the same thing to compete with this 'threat'.
