Does the US G35C = JPN 350GT? (could be a very stupid question)

My 6MTC should be here in a week, and I was considering a re-badge...but I don't wanna end up in the same group as the Civic/Integra drivers who just slap a "Type-R" sticker on their car and call it good, w/out actually MAKING it a Type-R.

Is the '05 G35 6MTC the equivelant of a Nissan Skyline 350GT? If not, what would I have to do to make it one?

The current skyline in japan is exactly the same as our car.

Well the steering column is on the opposite side of the car, but most major components should be the same. Yes the G is a Skyline 350GT in Japan (there were other engine sizes available before, I'm not sure if that's still the case).

As far as rebadging, the exterior is easy. You just need to think if you want to do the seats too.

Yikes, seats...don't really know the difference there. Plus, by poking around on the net a bit, I saw Skyline kickplates or whatever...I have no idea what those are.

The car itself will remain relatively stock, at least for a while...a nice tint and a rebadge is most likely all I'm going to do until it's broken in.

What most people don't realize is that not all S K Y L I N Es are bad *** cars. Only the GT-R version of the Skyline is anything special. By rebadging your car to a Skyline GT350 you arn't saying you have anything special at all! Just be prepared for EVERYONE to ask you questions about it and to (at least in my case) confuse the hell out of your bodyshop when they try to order parts for it! I have NO idea why a body shop would think the car is a Nissan Skyline when all the insurance papers say Infiniti but whatever....

I understand that =) I'm not considering re-badging it to a GT-R, that's just silly.

However, if the car *is* technically a Nissan Skyline 350GT, I don't see the harm in using that to make it stand out a little bit from the rest. There aren't a *whole* lot of G's here in town, but there are a few...and mine will stand out a little, wiht Skyline GT350 on it. Not to say it's faster, or better, or prettier, or whatever...it's just different.

Very well said! The Infiniti G35 Sport Coupe is also known as the Skyline Coupe 350GT in Japan. By the way, you do have something special...you have the best GT under $50K!

Also, the Japan version has the NISSAN emblem instead of the Infiniti one. There's also the NISSAN grill and steering wheel. The kickplates are on the side of your car when you look down with your door open. The American one says INFINITI the Japan one says Skyline. The difference in the seats are minimal, pretty much instead of having the Infiniti Logo and name stitched, it will say NISSAN SKYLINE *iirc*

Yup, just read up on all of that stuff...I'm still not 100% certain, but my current thought is to just swap the "Infiniti" badge with "Skyline", swap "G35" with "350GT", and keep the Fuji (Fiji?) logo intact on the rest of the car. Aside from being the less expensive route (no need to replace kickplates, steering wheel, grill, etc.), it's still in line with my "it's kind of both cars" feeling.

I'll have an Infiniti Skyline 350GT, which is weird...just like me =)

Thanks for all your help, guys, I appreciate it. Again, if there's a real performance difference that would make the re-badge an outright lie, lemme know...that'd sway my opinion.

Oh, I will
Sad thing is, it's still snowing here...the car'll be hanging out in the garage for at least a few more weeks. But, that'll give me time to adjust all the pre-sets, put together at least 3 MP3 mixes for the stereo, work on the Lombar support and seat settings, etc etc...thinkin' about ordering that front plate adapter as well, to avoid drilling holes in the front bumper.

Either way, garaged or not, pics will be up A.S.A.P. =)

That's perfect! Heh, it's even the right color

You sprung for the plate frame as well? StrictlyZ carries metal one as well, don't they?

the car looks awesome, that's great. (now I'm even more excited). This should maybe be a new thread, but are any of you guys using the front plate adapter?

No front license plate here, but then again I have California plates and live in Illinois. I think alot of cops just ignore this, because they don't know California's rules.
