Slip light and VDC light stay on

Hey fellow G members,

Seems like a very odd problem. I just got my car alligned. After about 15-20 minutes of driving my slip light and VDC off light BOTH come on at the same time and stay on until i restart my engine. DOes anybody know what may be causing this problem? I appreciate your help.

Does it do it everytime you drive or just that one time after you had it aligned?

Yes, it does seem like an electrical problem or maybe a problem the ECU is seeing. As a matter of fact, there is a slight error to the allignment of the car. The car drives straight ONLY if the steering wheel is placed at 11:00 position, which might confuse the ECU to think the car is slipping when its just an allignment issue. Thats the price you pay for trying to save 30 on allinment. : (
This would be my only theory. I''m gonna try taking it to Nissan today to have the car re-alligned. Thanks guys

Amigo,

Don't worry. I had the same problem except I also had the ABS light light up also. It is a brake sensor that's bad. I just had mine replaced and I think there is also a TSB on it. I hope this helps.

Sounds to me like the alignment techs may have knocked of an ABS sensor, or otherwise upset something at one or more of the wheels.
I doubt that the steering being off a few degrees would cause the lights to come on.

Other things that might turn those warning lights on are: low b/fluid level, a faulty brake pedal switch (see TSB's), thin brake pads, wrong sized wheels/tires...........
none of which seem to apply.

I drive the 04 G35x. Yesterday when I started the car, the VDC light, the Slip light, the ABS light, the AWD light and the check engine light all came on. Also the speedometer and the odometer stopped working too. The dashboard lighted up like a christmas tree. The car drives fine though. Although I can't tell how fast I was going.
Last week I scheduled an oil change at the dealership for tomorrow, so I guess I'll know what's wrong tomorrow.

LOL, sounds like the ECU/BCM had a meltdown......sometimes these things happen and just as quickly clear themselves.

The malfunction lights stayed on this morning as I drove the car to the dealership. The service advisor said it was due to the cold weather (-30C in Toronto yesderday). Didn't make a whole lot of sense to me, don't people drive Infinitis in cold weather? Oh well, I'll know what's wrong for sure when I pick up the car.

The verdict is in. A cable that connects the speedometer broke.
The car is only 3 months old.... and it is going to take 2 to 3 days to order the parts and fix the problem.
I hope this is not a sign of things to come. I had an Infiniti before and it was quite reliable.
