13.0 Miles per gallon after Z-tube/pop Charger install

alright, I installed My Z-tube and pop charger a week ago and reset the ecu by unpluging the battery..

Before install I get 17.7 Miles per gallon now I get 13! is it because my ECU is reporgramming? is this normal?

I look forward to reading the responses to your post. I'm considering putting in a Z-tube as well, but I've heard mileage goes down substantially!

Something is not right, the z-tube should actually help your mpg, helps the engine breathe. I have z-tube combo and exhaust I drive my car around the city a ton, getting on it here and there. My mpg last tank was 19.39. I never did an ecu reset with the mods I have on my car.

I've had a Z-Tube on for almost a year and have not seen any decrease in mileage. However, when I had the Z-Tube and the K/N CAI, torque went to **** and so did the mileage. Take off the PopCharger and you will probably see things improve. A drop-in K/N in the stock air box combined with the Z-tube seems to be what is working best for alot of people. If you go that route and still see lousy mileage, you may have screwed up the MAF sensor. Take it in and have them run a diagnosic only after you go back to stock. Dont tell them that you modified anything.

I know the answer to your problem:

Its the fact that you're just hitting the gas more now that you want to hear your car more at WOT. That would explain the lower gas mileage at least

Kingter-there is NOOOOO way I am going to let my wife see this thread, whenever I do something to her car, I say ,"but hon we'll get better gas mileage", and she just rolls her eyes .

I think it is a combination of a tendency to drive more aggressively to listen and feel changes and as the others say there could be something not right. I would get it checked out(after you switch back, unless your dealer is cool with minor mods)

Get off of the gas pedal! No, something is def not right. Either you nav is wrong, or you are driving full throttle all the time. I have a S/C and I'm on it all the time and still get 16mpg

I get 24 mpg on the interstate (~80mph w/ A/C on), and around 19 with a combo of city/interstate driving. I have a ZTube with the K&N Drop-In.

Getting about 17mpg on average even after the intake install.............take it easy on the pedal and it should go back up.

I've done this mod too guys and not noticed any decrease in mpg's.
If you do, then it's prolly from stepping on the gas more to hear the sweet music.
I'm not saying your mileage checks are wrong or inaccurate, but mileage should be checked over a longer period of time. This will take into account changes in weather, minor errors in calculating, and a host of other factors which affect mileage short term.
From it's design, I would say mileage should improve (tho fractionally) from it's install.

I'll give it one more week if it doesn't change I'll have it check.

I can't really drive that fast because it's always bad traffic here in LA.

I love the sounds thou

Kingtor , it might be your driving condition. Where do you live? Are you on freeways more often than city streets. I live in Vancouver, and we don't have freeways, so i naturally have poor mileage.
