Infamous Window Problem

So a few months ago my passenger side window failed on me. The window goes down slowly but won't go back up. For me to bring it back up, I have to pull the window up with my hands manually while pressing the up window switch.

I lived through that without fixing it. Now I left the car outside one cold night and all of a sudden, my driver window popped out on me. It goes down really slow but can't go all the way down. Doesn't go up at all unless i push up on the window and press the window button up at the sametime for it go up.

Is my motor dead or is this a fuse issue or is this a regulator issue? I looked at buying a pair of motor and it cost about $350+... but from what I am researching, sometimes that doesn't even solve the problem. So my first question is where is the problem and what are the ways to troubleshoot to know what the exact problem is rather than spending $$$ on replacing everything.

Hope someone can help!

I would try the motor cleaning method before anything else, I did it on my driver side door and its still working 2 weeks later, knock on wood.

save you some $$$

it only took me 1-1/2 hours

sounds like A) bad window motor or B) bad window regulator its 50/50
I always get calls on that.

I had a similar problem but mine wouldn't go down of if it did, it wouldn't go back up. I replaced mine motor with a refurbished from from Auto Zone. They were cheaper and have a lifetime warranty unlike Infiniti.

1. Try cleaning your window motor, carbon builds up on 'em.
2. Make sure your window bolts are tight, when they come loose you will have intermittent issues
like window failing to go up.

Just replace the motor. The cleaning is a temporary fix and you will have to tear it all back apart in 6 months or so. Not worth the hassle in my opinion. Especially if your window gets stuck down and it start raining.

Cleaning the motor only made it last an extra 2 weeks for me. Replaced the motor with one from o'reillys and it lasted over a year. Replacements are free with the lifetime warranty

Cleaning lasted 6 months for me, but it was also winter so I wasn't using my window much. Lifetime replacements are key!
