If you want lower profile tires, you should upgrade wheel size. If you keep your stock 17's and just go down to a 45 series, it'll look a little off and your speedometer/odometer will be fast.

So you have 19" wheels with a 40 series tires on them? Those are already pretty skinny...you could run wider tires with a shorter sidewall like 245/35/19 and speedometer/odometer changes would be negligible but I think the 40's are good..

Your stock tires (These are the 19" forged rays wheels you have, right?) are 225/40/19 front and 245/40/19 rear. You can use a skinnier tire at 255/35/19 front 275/35/19 rear which will keep diameters the same to keep odometer/speedometer changes negligible as possible. But I'm not sure if those tire widths are too wide for stock wheels. I'm sure a coupe guy could chime in and say so. If they are too wide for the stock wheels, you could go with 35 series tires that aren't as wide however there will be higher speedo/odo changes.

Np, well I'm a sedan guy but I'm running the 18's from the coupe, stock sizes at 225/45/18 and 245/45/18...the rears are a bigger diameter than my stock 215/55/17s so my speedometer is slow by about 1.6% or something like that.

The guy who posted above you, those tires are skinnier than yours, it will fit fine on your rims but your speedometer will be too fast by a decent amount. I use this tool to calculate tire diameter differences http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Yeah I just told him the ones you listed above were skinnier than his. I recommended the 245 an 275s too him too, might that be too wide for stock rays tho?

No i dont think so. A guy on our facebook group is running 280s in the back and looks alright but im not gonna do that. I think 275s is probably the biggest.
