05 350z intake

I was at the Nisan dealer today. While they were installing my mods I roamed around & this caught my eye.

The intake hole for the Z is kinda small. There are no other inlets or any type of air funnel or diverters in the front of the car.

With all the talk about intakes, filter & air flow, I thought this was interesting to note.

Looks smaller than our stock inlet. Interesting.

I'm sure its probabaly still pulling air from the left of that inlet as well.

There must be some rationale, i.e. venturi design which speeds up flow into a smaller opening, or something like that. It's been a long time since my fluid mechanics classes!

It should start wide and go smaller to speed up air velocity.
