engine spitting and sputtering
So I was driving home the other night just cruising along @ 45mph and the car just starting jerking and acting like it wasn't getting any fuel. Hammered on the throttle on and off to get it to clear up. Finally after about a mile of this is just cleared up and ran fine the rest of the way home. Couple of weeks before this pulled up to a stop sign and the car just died. Don't know what is wrong and don't know where to start.
About a month or so ago my car did somewhat the same thing. When i got to a red light, complete stop the engine started shaking like it wanted to die out. It didnt die after green light i took off and it ran ok. About a week later it did the same thing, didnt die out but did shake. So i took it to infiniti dealer they couldnt duplicate it and because there were no codes they cant or wont do nothing. Instead it's about the time for spark plug change they decide to do that off course $350 down. Crap doesnt fix the problem. Ever since that shake my car is not the same it feels so sluggish when it use to flow so smooth and u knew it. If u find your solution to what it is let me know wondering if im having the same issues as you, only mine didnt completely shut off hmmm.
I'd still just buy some maf cleaner and spray the maf sensor out.
When i had my supercharged tacoma, it did the same thing as your saying. Maf looked clean and all. I took it to a shop, they thought it was the supercharger so they tore it down. they did everything you could think of, at the end they sprayed the maf and all was well again.

Forget the MAF, although it doesn't hurt to clean it. Check your coil packs. There is a good chance one or more of them is submerged in oil. If that's the case, change the plug, and clean the COP as much as possible.

If it's this, you don't have to take the intak off like some writeups suggest. Just use 1/8" drive sockets and a small 1/8" ratchet and they're not too bad to get out.
