CEL with MREV2 and plenum spacer

Hi guys,

I recently installed the MREV2 and 1/2 plenum spacer (along with JWT pop charger and z-tube) and its been awesome. The only issue is that twice nice the check engine light has come on. The code is p0174 (system too lean (bank 2)). I'm assuming this means that the engine is getting TOO much air and not enough gas. Anybody seen this issue/know what to do about it?

I have noticed it is idling a bit rough, not sure if that means anything.

Thanks!

I think the issue is with the pop-charger and not the spacer. I've heard of rough idles and cars stalling out with the pop-charger because of the amount of heat soak. I would put the stock box back first and see if that changes anything. Also, disconnect the negative terminal on the battery for 15 minutes to reset the ECU, which should have been done with the install of each mod.

What year is your G? I'd be willing to bet you are indeed running lean and need a tune ASAP.

I'm somewhat local to you. If you need a hand troubleshooting this send me a PM

Yes he would if he has a nonrev VQ, but truthfully, I bet it's a vacuum leak.

^^ you didn't install the MREV2 + Spacer combo which is known to lean out the nonrev engines.

Regardless...rough idle and lean code usually points to a vacuum leak. If the OP ever gets back to me I'd be happy to go check it out for him. Could be as simple as cleaning the MAF

I would suggest getting a tune to be on the safe side.

I did a 5/16ths plenum spacer, z-tube, and rev-up air box. I threw a CEL so I did the manual ECU reset and it was gone....for a short time. Then it kept coming back and over and over again after mulitple resets. The only way that I could get it fixed was by getting a tune. The tune proved exactly what the CEL was reading. I was running lean and my ir to fuel ratio was off. It was fixed with a tune and I've had no problems since. Hope that helps.

Also, when I mean tune, I don't mean a Pep Boys tune. My car was tuned on a dyno machine with Osirus software. The shop was an authorized Uprev:Osirus tuner.

There's no way that those mods will cause you to run lean enough to throw a cell. If its idling rough like you say I can almost.guarantee that there's a vacuum leak or something wasn't hooked back up correctly. Tune won't help that

I did reset the ECU by doing the gas pedal pump method (http://www.6mt.net/forum/performance...rocedures.html). Plus (and this is worth mentioning) I forgot to mention that I had these mods on before but had to remove them and re-install them (not worth going into) and the first time I had them on there was no CEL. I'm going to go in ASAP and see if there's anything loose or any vacuum hoses off or anything like that.

Also, I believe I DO have a rev-up. It's an 06' manual. That's the rev-up engine, right?

Yes, that is the revup engine. If you previously had these mods and they were fine I would check for vacuum leaks. Make sure everything is tightened to spec. Might as well clean your MAF with MAF cleaner while you're at it.
