Thinking of selling G35 for Evolution x
Hey guys.
I got a 2006 G35 coupe 70k kms on it I absolutely love this car to death however at my altitude this car is just too slow and My motor does have a bit of oil consumption on synthetic so I dont want to turbo it.
Ive always really wanted a Mitsubishi Evo x and was looking to make the switch.
I was just wondering if anyone has made this switch and how do they like the Evo vs the G35?
Thanks!

I havent heard anything unreliable about the evo x's. Everyone i talk to have nothing but good things to say about the new engine that own evo x's. I think the new one is a much better daily driver then the old 8 and 9, also it comes with the active yaw control in the front for the first time compared to the USDM 8 and 9.
So there some handling improvements compared to the USDM 8 and 9. Maintaince should be a little lower too since the new evo x engine has a timing chain instead of timing belts like the 8 and 9, so you dont have to change them out every 60k.
Since your in canada the evo x would be a good fit. Maybe also look at a g37x and 335xi

The Evo is an awesome car. You can't really build a G35 to perform close to one. The Evo 8 is just a lot more raw. Never driven an Evo X, but they seem a little too refined for me. The Evo 8 and 9 give you excellent control and feedback.
As for everyone mentioning reliability problems. That depends. If the car is well taken care of, and you don't beat on it at every light, the car will treat you right. As for the comment about the car being fragile. LOL. There's guys out there who take their Evos out on dirt roads and deserts. As for the motor, the closed deck iron block 4G63 is a legend. I think the insane drag times for the Evo and the multiple time attack records speak for themselves. Or how about the 1000+ HP that lots of tuners have churned out of that tiny 2.0L 4 banger?
I suggest you look at EvolutionM.net, there's even a 920AWHP Evo 8 for sale on EvolutionM.net right now. Custom paint, and widebody.

I agree with me Gusta, Evo's are not fragile cars at all. My buddy and I have done a rally or two in his. Basically a stock car and does awesome. But I will say they do take a lot of maintenance. Not more than a g, but a lot for a 4 banger. They constantly have to be serviced. I like the Evo x but just like me Gusta said, it is very refined. Lots of computers working. I would personally look for a sti hatchback. I house sat for a buddy of mine who had and Evo x and a Evo 8 with some hefty mods in it, and a sti hatch. I just found myself driving the Subaru more. The Evo x it better on paper, and I love it and the transmission is amazing, but there was just something about that Subaru. Anywho they are great cars lots of fun. Good luck with your decision.
