For all you Gs on the east coast, how are you dealing with the latest snow storm. How is the G holding up? Many of you still driving with 2 feet of snow on the ground? Getting ready to move from California to Boston so I need to prepare. Thanks.

 

My G has been sitting in my driveway. I live in NY and we got about 18". However, I do not have snow tires so that's pretty much the reason. Boston was hit with 30+ inches. What was worse is that I just waxed it, and then all the snow fell. Sucks!

actually might be better than u JUST waxes... the next car wash should be easy and ur car was protected by the wax from da elements =)

 

Commute to school everyday with about an inch or two on the roads. I go to school in upstate NY. And of course, I have snow tires. The Blizzak's are wonderful.

 

2 options: either get snow tires or a winter beater.... If there is snow on the road you're not going anywhere but sideways....

I'm in Florida right now--Delray Beach where it's 70's and bright sun. Left last Saturday just before the snow hit. But back home in Amherst, MA I've been driving all winter on 17" Blizzaks and loving it. The G coupe is fantastic in the snow with VDC on and a 70# sand tube in the trunk. Gives me a chance to practice drifting when it's really slippery out, but most of the time the car is totally controllable.

 

I commute 100 mi/Day from west to the Boston area, from side streets to highways, and the VDC does an excellent job of making a slippery drive easier. You just don't need the same concentration level with VDC as without, and a crappy 1 1/2 hour commute becomes more pleasant because of it. The car has a tight torque converter setup and sharp throttle tip-in, both characteristics that are great for dry road performance but need subtle inputs for slippery/unplowed conditions (like this morning's fresh 3") with no VDC. Sometimes when merging from a snowy side street I think it's too obtrusive while grabbing brakes one by one and cutting back the throttle, then I duplicate the effort with VDC off and find that I can't improve on the computer's job, just a lot of wheel spin. I'm pretty impressed with the job Infiniti has done on it. Oh yeah, I have a coupe with 17" snows and factory LSD, both of which help too.

 

My new G will sit in the garage for most of the rest of the winter. However I did have some fun with it last night in some of the snow cover roads around Boston. I've found that the 19" Potenzas do suck in the snow, but not quite as bad as I expected.

I visited a parking lot and explored some of the limits of traction on snow and slush. I was able to do just fine in slush by taking it easy, 2nd gear starts, easy on the throttle, etc. I was able to move on snow conditions, VDC clicking along.

winter tires/wheels are coming for next season, but temps are due to ascend in Boston starting next week, and tire selection is terrible right now anyways.

We got 24 inches, I live 10 minutes away from Boston. And as I'm typing this, we're getting another 6 inches. I have the Blizzak LM-22's on my stock 18's and they do a great job. Unfortunately it's an overwhelming amount of snow. So I threw my G in the garage since last Saturday before the big storm and haven't taken it out since, looks like it will be in there for a few more days. I've been tooling around in our Jeep Hemi, oh man what fun times!!!

P.S - aam6906, Pitssburgh was in trouble with their QB, they are a good team, unfortunately the QB basically let the game go. Don't worry, Patriots will take care of the other PA team ;-) LoL. It's all good.

Too bad the coupe doesn't come in AWD because that would be the car to have in New England. The G35X is unbelievable in the snow and those cars sell very well there.

Still about a foot on the ground. The G hasn't been out of the garage since before Christmas. Driving my ol' 96 Exploder.

 

Lots of snow around. But I still drive my G to work.

Traffic has been horrible the past few days, but the G has made me proud.

Now we'll see how the drive home is (another 10 inches coming down as we speak)

 

I drive my G35 coupe every day with Dunlop M-3 snow tires. I put them on 17" 350-Z stock rims and they work very well. No clearance issues with my Brembo's either.
