Intermittent Window (rolling up and down)

Hello,

I did a quick search on "intermittent window" and only a few results came up which is why I am writing a post.

So, lately my drivers side window has been rolling up and down intermittently. That is, once I press the button on the drivers side door, it rolls down, but only after I open the door and close it and after I bang on the door near the control panel.

I don't think it's a motor issue or regulator issuse, but more or less a electrical issue. Can you please advise outcome and what I can do to fix this problem? How much would this cost to fix?

Two things come to mind. First, you can perform the window sensor reset procedure, details can be found on this site and on infinitihelp.com. However, I doubt that will solve your problem.

Had the same symptoms, and solved it by cleaning the window motor, window motor is basically a spindle with copper plates inside a cone device; when too much junk and debris gets inside the motor, it gunks up the contact between the spindle plates and cone plate. This may be why you can operate the window after opening and shutting the door, which may knock some debris off enough to make contact again. $10 tube of grease and 1 hour for both motors is what I did. Again, instructables on this site and infinitihelp.com.

Thanks for the help!

I assume infinitihelp.com has a dyi on how to take of the door panel and so forth. I'll take a stab it this weekend.

Should be a video on that site. Nice thing is that by taking the motor out you can diagnose any loose wire connections leading to the window at the same time. Good luck.
