KNOCKING noise after Injen CAI
Only one way to find out. Install the extra pipe... problem not solved? Take that b***h off and reset your ECU to clear the code, sell the CAI and use the money to mod some other stuff.

SO did i need to reset the ecu after having installed the CAI? and do i need to reset the ecu after returning to the OEM prior to taking car to get serviced? will they know i messed with the air induction? furthermore. why cant i leave the Injen on it when i take to the shop? that aint gonna mess with my warranty can it? thanks RX
Yeah, you should have reset the ECU after the CAI install. However, just because you didn't, shouldn't result in the noise you are talking about. And yeah, if you're putting the stock intake back on, you should reset the ECU to clear your trouble code (asssuming you still have it). The dealer shouldn't be able to tell you had the Injen on the car. You could leave the Injen on but 9/10 times if a non OEM intake is on and you come in complaining about trouble codes and funny noises, they will point to your aftermarket intake and say it is to blame and probably void the warranty... maybe.
The exception would be if they installed it. But it really depends on how cool your dealer is, they might overlook the fact that its not stock and they didn't install it and just help you out under warranty. Just to be on the safe side, however, take it off and have them look at the car if resetting the ECU doesn't clear the code.

12 (can be a little less) hour battery disconnect. Just take the negative cable off the battery and wait. There is another method I've heard of that doesn't require taking battery cables off... I'll try to find it. I've heard mixed reviews on it. If you have the time, just pull the cable.
well i swaped out the INJEN and put the OEM back in and still get the "service engine soon" light. the weird thing is that its been a couple days now in which i havnt heard the knocking noise even qwith the Injen Cai in. so i have an appointment with infiniti on tuesday. the thing is if they fix whatever is wrong with it, take it home and reinstall the Injen Cai, will this whole damn thing happen again? i mean has anyone had the service engine light on by installing the Injen? and no i havnt reset the cpu yetmaybe by doing that, it will rid the light comining on. i dont know. this whole thing sucks!
The light may go away with a 12-hour battery ECU reset. To answer your question, no. I haven't had an engine light and I did the install myself... if you do plan on putting the Injen back on your car, take EXTRA care when handling the MAF. I had mine wrapped in plastic and tucked away so it wouldn't move or get touched for the entire install.
well I FRIGGIN FIXED IT. monday night i decided to pull the neg. cable off to reset overnight, the next morning i was scheduled to bring it in to have it checked. as i was thinking that night what the probem could be, i dont know how this came to me but it did. I FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM WAS CAUSED BY PULLING THE MAFS WHILE MY ESPN RADIO WAS ON. i didnt realize that the ecu would get all screwed up by having the key turned and pulling it to reinsert. seems obvious now. anyway, thanks to al who tried to help and remember to NEVER EVER EVER mod your car wit the key on. man im glad i didnt take to the dealer. it saved me scratch on the car.
