What is a silencer and what does it do?
Also with this kit do I need to buy anything else or if I buy this am I good to install and go?

I'm just kidding. It just makes the exhaust tone lower, or at least it should. It probably won't sound nearly as good with it on either. However you can take it off since it's usually only held on by one or two screws. Don't use it.

That pretty much sums it up.

And by "lower" I mean quieter, not deeper. But it'll more than likely make it sound fart can-sounding.

 

Why would you even buy this?

 

Cause it's pretty and extremely cheap. They haven't done enough research to realize other members have made the same mistake. What is comes down to is, "You get what you pay for!" You're removing a nice OE system and replacing it with thin wall trash that won't last or sound good (if it can be installed)....Gary

 

You can get a good x02 clone like the m2 one for roughly that price. Check up the thread on it, by far the best quality x02 and actually gives you some decent gains, unlike the authentic hks system and for <1/2 the price.

 

Don't worry about the sedan'ers, you too would probably be pissed if you had to drive one. Your gambling when dealing with ebay exhausts. Like I mentioned in the other thread, the silencers help quiet the exhaust and usually reduce drone.

 

To top onto what the other guy said the x02 actually does sound really good. Tons of people bash them and people who buy em but I heard some great videos and figured for 300 bucks it wasn't much loss if it sucked (money wasn't an issue I think it sounds better than the real hks) And I'm not disappointed but I've only had one for 3 months.

 

Please don't forget a lot of the mods drive sedans, myself included, and we can ban you quicker than you know for making such outrageous statements.

I personally loved my x02's sound. I also ran it for ~3 years before I sold it due to possibly selling my car. If you install the magnaflow resonator you will have no drone problems and imo a great sounding exhaust that has gotten me a vast amount of compliments throughout the years.

Yeah I have the magnaflow x pipe on mine as well. I was initially very happy with it. But I had never heard it from outside the car until the other night. Wide open throttle down a neighborhood street at 11pm with my gf filming it through 3 gears...lmao. jesus christ its loud and sounds unbelievably epic. As good as any of the youtube videos.

 

You get what you play for! three bills won't get you much for this cars. A good exhaust will make the car run smoother, sound better and last you a bit.
