Yeah man. I was afraid of this as well when I purhcased the G. I adjusted the mirrors and got used to it. Now if im changing lanes to the left ont he highway, its standard practice to move your head up to see all the mirror anyways to make sure there's no cars there. No blindspot issues at all in this car. Love driving it on the highway.

Pretty basic rule....turn the head...that's why we were given a swivel there so we wouldn't hit things when turning, eh? 8^) You take a risk if you don't take a look
before changing lanes. You get some bloke who wants to play race with you and pass
you on the right when you aren't looking and its all over.....take the time to look.

Otherwise my other theory is drive much faster than the traffic and its pretty easy to never hit anything when changing lanes!!

Most people don't know how to adjust their mirrors properly. (no insult intended) When looking at your drivers side mirror, you actualyl should'nt be able to see any part of your own car!! You should aim it so the closest you can see is about 1-2 feet off the rear bumper. The rest of the mirror should basically see into the next lane. The rear mirror see behind you and to the left & right about 2 feet, behind you car. The pass, side mirror is the same as the drivers side, aimed about 1-2 feet off the car. Have someone stand that far off the side rear bumper & adjust mirors. It'll feel strange at 1st but its works. As car comes up to pass you you'll see it in the rear view mirror, then as most of it dissappears(1/3car) it'll appear in the side mirror(1/3car).

No blind spot

Just get a rearview mirror like mine and you'll be able to see the entire freeway in the mirror ... and yes, the 5 inch screen is reflective. But wait, that doesn't really help with unseen people to the side... hmm... lol.

i've always just set my side mirrors so that i can just barely see the side of the car and it's worked great for me. with the suggested method above, when it says lean over to the left/right, am i to assume that you do NOT move your whole entire body but just your head, right?

Thanks for all the answers

For those of you who suggested that there is no blind spot, I guess your eyes are better than mine

I read the posts and links to sites about positioning your mirrors, and I tried it today. I have an I30, and angled the mirrors out a lot wider than I used to, and I could see everything. We're going to go out and try to buy our G35 Coupe tomorrow, and I'll try the mirror trick then.

Thanks again for all the answers.

True, positioning of mirrors can drastically reduce or eliminate the blind spot. I took a BMW driving course and this is one of the first things covered. Most people tend to position their sides a little to inward. Move em out about another inch or so ( so that the view of the side of your vehicle just disappears). This should help once you get used to it. We were also told to use the rearview and a central mark ie: pylon or pole of sort to centralize, but I won't get into all that).

It's not that bad for a coupe, but a price you pay for having one.
I hardly notice it any more. With diligent use of the mirrors, you can live with it.
