I just bought a 2006 g35 6MT with 43,000 miles on it and the performance is nowhere near what it should be. I've owned a 05 6MT years back and I know what the stock car is capable of. This car can't outperform my 01 lexus is300 so I know theres a problem. I've only had the car for a week and I got a SES P1084 EVT code and I searched the forum and replaced the driver-side cam positioning sensor. No more code so far and even reseted the ecu to re-learn the vehicle. Car still drives like crap, no bad idle or anything just sluggish acceleration. Oil change was done and the previous engine oil looked good and clean, I do need to install a clean air filter but I doubt that would make a much difference. Also seem like it's drinking gas at a faster rate than my 05 and after driving the car for over 30 mins I hear the dreadful throwout bearing noise, but would that have anything to do with acceleration issues? It really feels like my horsepower is cut in half like my car is running in Safe Mode. lol Any suggestions?

If u say u feel kinda sluggish on Accel..I would check my fuel pressure .your fuel pump might not be working at a good pressure 35+ psi should b good ..that could also cause gas mileage to be bad ...check it out
Ahhh fuel pressure, I didn't think about that. Is there a easy way to check fuel pressure without changing pump?

its probably ignition or fuel if the car is running in safe mode. Try changing the plugs and wires and see if it makes a difference. Then check fuel.

Make sure your clutch isn't slipping, that would lead to sluggish acceleration as well.
Is there any signs of clutch slipping, like how would I know its slipping. I believe the clutch fully engadges, but when talking about the clutch I do get the throwout bearing noise. hmmm

When it revs up and the cars mph doesn't move. Then you clutch is slipping. Take it to a shop that doesn't charge for checking you car.Originally Posted by wreckshop56

Nope clutch isn't slipping... steady idle makes me think its not a tune up problem, should I run some octane booster or fuel treatment in it. I wish I knew a cool place in houston to take it to actually see whats the horsepower its putting out.

Took me a little trial and error, but mine ended up being my Mss ariflow sensor. My car was sluggish and just wasn't running right. But I also had a very low idle, but no CEL. My buddy works at the dealership and they figured it out in 15 minutes. Once changed, the car runs like a dream.

See the no CEL light is confusing me also. I wish it was on so I can get a specific part to look at.Originally Posted by BjkearG35

UPDATE!!!
Car been sitting for about a day.. Went outside this morning to check the oil levels which were ok except my brake fluid which was low and I replaced it, well I get ready to drive it and it did not want to crank. It made the cranking sound but did not want to turn over. It did that for about 5 mins then I decided to hold down the clutch and gas and it finally turned over. Could it be a gas issue? How much is a diagnostic check at a nissan dealership.

Hmmm. I'd be taking a good look at my MAF. With a good clean I would follow with a pedal reset to clear the garbage learned in the recent past.
