Lower Bumper Grill Inserts
Lower Bumper Grill Inserts
I just picked up an '04 coupe and for some unknown reason, the lower 2 grill inserts have been removed. I've read enough to know that they are one piece with the bumper. I've done some searching around this forum but most threads are pretty old so wanted to ask if there are any current options for replacing these two sections? I'm looking for something black and nothing flashy. I know I can just purchase some black sheets of diamond type universal grill but figured I would ask before going this route. Is gialla grill available for the bottom inserts as well or just the top? Thanks in advance for any help.
i agree ^ no billet lol. someone prob cut them out trying to make it have the aftermarket look...
Id just leave it alone because i do believe the grill inserts are 1 piece w/ the bumper.
Or check into our vendors and look for a new bumper to replace it with.

The grills are one piece with the bumper and cannot be purchased separately from the bumper. I just don't like the fact that you can see clearly into the bottom of the engine compartment. I don't want to go the billet route even if they were painted black. I guess my only options are to leave them open or purchase a sheet of black aluminum mesh and cut to fit and attach with some sort of adhesive on the back side.

What I did on mine was cut/sand out the holes and glued in the same mesh from my grill. The guys from Ionic here on the forum sold me extra pieces to match. Looks pretty good. Held up almost 3 years now. Ignore the horrid rock chips... that is next on the to do list.

I took the bumper off and glued them in with some regular loctite type adhesive. I don't remember what kind but it was white and came in a caulk tube, got it from like home depot. Cut the mesh to fit and just glue it liberally over the mesh so it seeps through it and onto the lip where the old mesh was "attached." Trick is to use enough to get it to stick, and not too much it runs out the front onto the paint. Use some painters tape to hold it in place.

Yea, I think if I'm going to have to go to the extent of using an adhesive to attach both stock and aftermarket grills, I'd rather get something nicer looking then the plastic stock ones.
