'05 6MTc on the way, Car Delivery Acceptance Question:

Well, my IP 6MT Coupe is on the truck, and should be delivered to work on Monday

Now, when I accept delivery, what *exactly* should I look for? As far as I know, I need to do an external check for scratches, cracks, and body assembly issues...what else?

Heh, good point actually...I've been driving a '95 Civic DX for the past 9 years, so Power Windows and Power Locks are luxuries, as far as I'm concerned. I'm going to print out a checklist of *everything* that should be on the car...small additional things (I think I read that it has 2 antennae's, and chooses the one w/ the strongest signal?) as well as the big Package stuff. MY SHAVING KIT BETTER BE THERE, TOO....

check nuts/bolts to see if they were messed with. kind of overkill, but you never know. the world is a shady place.

The most important things are to check the car for the config. you ordered, the number of miles on the car, and the overall condition of the car. Take your time, do not feel rushed. It is very important that you do a good check now, before you take delivery. The reason is that if there's body damage for example, you will have to pay for it after delivery. The first thing I would do is ask if the car was involved in any kind of accident OR took any kind of damage before delivery. Sometimes cars do get damaged (unlikely) and they fix it before they deliver it. You dont have to be an asshat about it, but just ask to start.
Also, do not take delivery in the night unless they are putting the car indoors under very good lighting so you can examine the car very well. Look at the body of the car. Do you see any scratches anywhere on the car? Look directly at the car and look at it from angles, see if you see any 'bent' reflections, indicating a dent. Don't forget to check the wheels for scratches! No matter how small, point it out. If you find anything, do not leave without their commitment to fix it IN WRITING.
I can't think of major things to look for in particular. Make sure you're getting the right tires, and all small accessories are included (med kit, mats, etc) I would mainly look at the body for dings, scratches, etc. though and look at the leather inside for scratches. Small faults with the electronics and mechanics will be fixed under warranty.
In short, be very thorough and dont leave until you feel like you got what you paid for. A few well spent minutes here will save you headaches later. Good luck and when its done, enjoy

not necessarily, some cars are (randomly- mine was one and came with 17mi) used for QA. In these cases there will be a card included with your vehicle that says the number of miles that were on the car for this purpose. If your car was chosen as such I wouldnt use it as grounds for refusal. This is not the fault of the dealer and you can't blame infiniti for doing this to make sure their products are of sufficient quality. If there are a lot of miles that are unexplained, then yes, you should ask questions. But if Infiniti used it for QA, and you have proof, then you're ok.

I'm in the same situation, car is supposed to come in on Monday! Too bad a work accident caused two broken toes on my right foot last Monday! Oh well, at least I can heal knowing my car is in the garage, and once these toes heal up...it's on!

Thanks
This is exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

Also, I've read about dealers installing options *at the dealership*, rather than having the car put together at the factory. I've paid for a factory complete car, so is that something I should look out for?

This is reaching (I should just get my lazy *** online and do it), but is there a *definitive* list of each and every thing that should be on the car? I mean, proper bolts, shaving kit, anything small that might be missing, etc? If going to the Infiniti site and printing out the list of Standard Features is enough, I'll just do that.
