Hi I'm new in this site...I need help with my A/C pressure sensor.. Bought a new sensor but i broke the plug that connects to the sensor.. It has 3 wires..blue red and black.. I need to know which wire goes in the middle left and right.. Somebody help please..
I cant get onto my work's website to get the schematics. Maybe I can get them in the monring and report back. It should be power, ground and signal iirc but not sure of the order
Dredging up a thread because a) I figure that's better than starting a new one, and b) because this one is a related topic. The Low Pressure Switch.
My son (who drives the '07 G35 Coupe 6MT), said his A/C wasn't working as good as it used to. I can do a full evacuation and fill myself, and have all the tools. I've done it on many of my own cars. I just got through doing it to my youngest son's RX-8 (which I bought because I just couldn't find a reasonably priced non-Tokyo-drift G35 6MT RevUp). The all stock, or mostly stock cars are way high (like $14k). And I don't blame those guys. They are great cars, and much better closer to stock than wannabe-ricer-Fast-N-Furious-Tokyo-drift cars (IMO). Found a great deal ($7,500) on an RX8 in great (all original) shape, copper red, 6MT Shinka. 104k miles. Anywho...
I told my son, let's go to the Walmart, we can get some refrigerant and you can show me the issue. Well, it seemed like his A/C wasn't coming on at all. He told me during that drive that it hasn't been cooling well since we had the radiator replaced (about a year ago, if not a bit longer). But that it didn't bother him because a) he like to ride with the windows down, and b) since he's now going to GaTech, I'm not paying $950 a semester for him to park. So the car stays at home most of the time these days.
However, his g/f just broke up with him and he immediately flipped it around and has an even hotter girl coming into town for the fireworks tomorrow. So fast, his x-gf would panic and try to get back with him ... if she knew. So he wanted the new girl to have some A/C, because she'll want the windows rolled up to keep her hair perdy. We got the refrigerant, and went back home and evacuated it. It held vacuum solid as a rock (meaning, no leaks). But the compressor just would not kick on when we started filling. So, about a 1/4 of the capacity filled, I told him, let's take a break and go inside and think about it. I was concerned his compressor clutch was bad, or the compressor itself. Then I started thinking about what he said. It hasn't worked well from when the radiator was replaced. I didn't do that job, I didn't have time. So we bought a Z1 Motorsports radiator and took it to a shop that does good work. I got to thinking about the things they'd probably take apart. And read on this thread that the low pressure switch connector is behind the grill on the left side. WHAT IF, they had disconnected it when removing the old radiator, and forgot to connect it back.
So I removed the grill and found the below.
What a relief! I connected it, then we cranked the car with it still on RECIRC, max fan, A/C ON. And immediately the compressor kicked on, pulled the low side pressure down to about 27 psi. I opened the manifold gauge and let the new refrigerant flow in. We added ~600 grams. I usually add about 10% more (550 grams is the spec) so I added about 50 grams more. I use a small weight gauge to be accurate. I put a little extra refrigerant in, in case the system slowly leaks it, it will slowly leak to the optimum level and run well longer.
The point is guys, if you're having trouble with your compressor clutch not kicking in, and you just either did work, or had work done on your car, consider what *might* have been done, and what could have possibly been forgotten.
A/C is blowing ice cold air now! Since I referred to this post regarding the location of the low pressure switch ... MANY THANKS TO THIS THREAD!!!!
