2005 G35???

I'm planning on purchasing a new G35 within the next couple of months from Grubbs Infiniti. But my main concern is, did Nissan fix their flaws on their car. For example the transmission grinding? Trunk latch hesitation? And maybe anything else that some of you have experienced. I think overall this is a great car but if they still have these problems, I might reconsider getting another car. Thanks in advance guys.

I would really like for someone who actually owns a new 2005 G to give their input on this matter because I would really like to own this beautiful car. But this transmission business seems a little out of hand for me. A lot of time is lost when having to deal with the unneccesary trips to the dealerships for tranny revisions.

Hey mad paradox-

What makes you think everyone is having multiple trips to the dealership for transmission problems and the grinding noted in your headline? I have had no problem whatsoever and the transmission notchiness despite criticism from some is really non existant to me, and there certainly is no grinding unless one wants to shift without using the clutch. However there have been reviews saying there has been improvments made to the shifting smoothness of the '05's.
As to your other post- what exactly is trunk latch hesitation?

Now up to 3000 miles on my '04 Coupe 6MT....shifts super slick, never has grinded a gear; no rattles (even after tearing the dash apart to convert the Nav so it can play DVD's); I've never heard anybody complain of trunk latch hesititation on this board. Just get a clear bra on your new G and you'll be good to go. Good luck with whatever you decide.

This car is flawless and I can tell you I belive Infiniti has done there job here.
My 2005 6mt has more class than my 2003 and I never had one problem with my 2003. I quess you could go buy a vett for $10.000 more but trust me you will have a peace of crape in a few years. Maybe you should take a bus to work they do not have six speeds. Infiniti is a first class ride

My understanding is that the newest version "08" tranny is now flawless! I recently had my car serviced and was once again complaining about the the noise of my new tranny replaced a couple of months ago? My new tranny is said to be the "07" version, so I am asking for the "08" and it seems I might get it, we shall see?

MOST IMPORTANTLY: NO matter what car you buy, you will have problems! Look at Acuras last TL model, they were replacing trannys right and left, 2 two of my friends being ones I know. I also had the tranny replaced in my 98 Accord V6 (under warranty) and my 2001 BMW 330 (NOT under warranty.......OUCH!!!!). My point is do not listen to all the negatives you hear, I absolutely LOVE my G and will put up with some problems here and there because it is just inevitable!

HECK......look at the $75K BMW 745.......stranded on the side of the road with 5K miles on it time after time..........now that would **** me off

Great, so it seems they have finally and hopefully fixed the problem. Thanks a lot guys, your advice and input is greatly appreciated. I was actually thinking about getting and S2000 but again I want something with more luxury.

Yes, I understand that they that I shouldn't be negative about the flaws from before, but there's nothing wrong with be alittle skeptical before spending $34K on something that will grind and clunk whenever you shift.

I'm just doing my research before hand.

You'll just have to test drive the G 6MT and see how you like it!

PS The G is made in Nissan's best factory, the Tochigi plant where their best cars like the Q45 is made.

I got my G Coupe in November and believe me, there is no better car in its price range. My neighbor has a new Acura TL and he was drooling all over my G and you could see his buyer's remorse on his face when he saw my G.
