Why would engine seize with only 75k miles?

Nissan used Mobil 5w30 but Infiniti used Mobil Special 5w30 for the oil changes. Is the viscosity the same? The car broke down only 9 days from having the oil changed (800 miles). Could they have not put enough oil during the oil change which caused a overheat/malfunction? Is this a common occurrence for Infiniti cars to blow a rod at 75k miles? Ill probably pay to fix it. Would it be fair to ask for some type of discount on the service since I bought the car from them?

U shud have checked your level when u left dealer. at this point since u lost oil, there is no sure way to tell. Dont know how you can prove this on the dealer. On a serious note I feel sorry this happened. U can only prove that with your records and change intervals ur car never lost oil like this and it was something on them. Go back to consumer affairs with this.
At this point, we have to stop pointing fingers at the rev up. ANY type of VQ will drink oil, its a fact. the rev up is responsible for the CHRONIC consumption people were seeing, but ALL TYPES (not every VQ built) will begin to drink.
My theory of three categories:
1. Chronic consumption (rev ups, mis maintained high mile/poor build non rev up)
2. Sipping consumption (any)
3. Higher end builds that don't drink at all.(any)
AT buyers&owners beware.

i think it would depend on how much he drives, he could've left the car in the drive way a few days. i have a feeling they forgot to put oil in there too, Even if it drank oil like crazy it would still last longer then 9 days. Try to talk to the general manager of the dealership see what he can do. If not you can try legal action, if not you can just buy a used engine for around $1k.

He drove the car 800 miles after the oil change, had they forgotten to add oil it wouldn't have lasted nearly that long! It would have seized on the way home. This is a perfect example why everyone should check their oil frequently, never assume (hate that word) the guy filling the oil did his job and put all 5 quarts in.

Would there be way any to tell if the oil in the engine could have been poured in vs the existing oil that was still present prior? When the car died and I waited for tow truck for 2 hours, there was no liquids or oil on the ground. When the I had it towed from nissan to infiniti there was a puddle oil on the ground after sitting 2 nights at nissan. The tow truck driver told me he had puddle oil on his flatbed when he towed from nissan to infiniti.

Mine has 60,361 miles its a 2003 and were thinking it had something to do with supercharger and possible bad tune.
