Lip install questions?
Lip install questions?
Hey guys, I just got my ebay lip in, ( yes i know, ebay. but its a cheap little mod, till i can get a whole new front bump. ) anyways, I got the replica Gialla Lip, and it came with 2 screw holes for behind fender wall, and 3m double sided tape. I just have a few questions..
Should i try to stick the lip to the bumper first then line the holes up for screwing?
about how much tape does it take to firmly hold the lip in place?
I did a rough try the otherday and tested the tape slightly, but it would not stick like i thought, it would easily peel off? Did i not prep it correctly? Somone said you have to Super glue the tape to the lip (Urethane)
thanks

it was this one - http://www.ebay.com/itm/03-04-INFINI...-/181013579058 i really like the look of it, and fitment is pretty good. I still have to paint it, or dipp it.
geewhiz420....If you are putting on a lip. I would highly recommend you rivet the middle part of your lip instead of using double sided tape. I had a shop put on a carbon fiber lip, they were lazy and didnt put any rienforcement in the middle so the lip ripped right off when I hit the freeway. So I ended up getting a eBay lip also and riveted the front and just bolted the ends on each side with the bolts provided . You might have to do a little drilling, but that shouldnt be hard. Goodluck
3m tape will work well but for something that size I would also want to bolt it securely to the bumper.
I've used 3m tape on numerous occasions but you should clean the surface with rubbing alcohol 1st.
Any unseen debris will make it not stick correctly.
3m works best on painted areas where the area is smooth.
In the past I have needed to superglue 3m tape to the inside of the front lip because it was non painted and wouldn't stick otherwise.
