Car Came Yesterday =) *now with pics!*

"Uh...could you move the shipping truck? I've never gone in reverse in a stick before..."

The truck driver almost choked me

So, my '05 IP/Stone 6MTC showed up last night...SO...MANY...BUTTONS!
I'm still figurin' out what does what...it's great, tho, I'm having a blast learning how to drive a stick on it.

Has anyone gotten the moonroof to auto-close? we could get the windows to close no prob, but the moonroof just stayed put.

The Bose system is...interesting. Can anyone point me to the amp, so I can scare up some bass?

Nav is insane...great size, bright as hell. Haven't programmed it yet. Answered my own question about tilting and then closing...it just auto-tilts back to default.

Clear Bra is cleanly installed, and goes a good way up the hood...I like.

All in all, I'm extremely pleased...Here's some buying info:

Pre-ordered at Riverside Infiniti in California (although I'm in Oregon), pretty much the day the '05's were announced...ask for Tim, the Internet Manager.
I had a wonderful experience, no hassle, they even arranged the shipping for me ($600 in a covered truck...picked up Thurs., arrived Mon.)

Bought it on the VPP, a good 3k under MSRP (and in OR, so no sales tax). No VPP hassles at all, everything was very straightforward and professional.

A buddy of mine bought an '04 in Cali, w/out Nav, and paid a good 5k more...if you can find a way onto the VPP, *DO IT*.

Well, I'm gonna go play some more...pics on their way =)
*edit* gonna try to upload, but I'm an idiot about pics...also, quality isn't the best, but I'll take some better ones once it's cleaned and these dark clouds go away =)

yeah i kind of thought the tax thing was too good to be true you would be saving like $3000 (8% tax) on top of what ever you haggle the dealer down...EVERYONE would be buying out of state

Buying cars are different than buying something at say, Wal-Mart. With cars, you pay the tax based on where you live. If you live in a state with no sales tax, you pay no sales tax regardless of what state you buy the car in, even if that state has a sales tax. I bought my G in Maryland and live in Florida. I paid the 6% FL tax at the dealer in MD, even though MD has something like a 3% tax. Even more accurately, it's based on what county you live in. I live in St Johns County FL, where the sales tax is 6%. If I lived in Duval County (directly next to St Johns County), the sales tax is 7%. Since FL has no state income tax, I can deduct the sales tax paid on my Federal tax return. Confused yet?

No hassle intended. Did you not actually pay your FL Sales Tax at the time you titled and registered your car in FL? I bought numerous cars in the years I was on active duty and in all cases except one I registered and titled the car in a state other than where the car and I were located. In no case did the dealership collect the sales state owed the other state. Similarly, if you buy a car privatre sale no sales tax is collect by the individual selling the car - the tax is collected at the time that you register and title the car.

Again, no hassle intended.

Welcome! Glad to see you are psyched about your car

Not trying to sound like a jerk, but just spend 10 min or so and read the manual cover to cover. You will learn a lot about your car!

Congrats on the ride bro. All the toys are fun to play with.
The Bose amp is either under the rear seat, or under the trunk mat on the floor (and under the spare).

That's not jerk-like at all, I plan on doing just that...to be honest, I was *not* really a "car guy" until maybe a year ago. I have very little experience, and was rollin' a '95 Civic DX Auto 'till 2 days ago (which was my 1st car). Going from an 86hp Auto to a 298hp 6MT is a VERY scary jump, so I'm currently just concentrating on learning how to drive it properly and not killing myself or anyone else.

I'll hunt for the Amp, does anyone else have any feedback on the premium system? it's sounds pretty clean, but still lacks a certain "oomph" that even my civic had.

Yup, got the spoiler...here's the rundown (I'll put it in my sig in a few)

'05 Infiniti G35 6MT Sports Coupe, Ivory Pearl w/ Stone Grey interior, Premium Package, Nav Package, Aero Package, Sports Package (assumed), no Sat. radio (I really can't stand someone else telling me what to listen to...personal peeve).

I'd run outside and take pics, but after *trying* to wash it, it got even dirtier...I was in a hurry back to work, so didn't towel dry. Now it's spotted
I'll re-wash after work, properly.

Thx guys, I'm ultra-psyched about the car. Now I just wanna make sure I do all the proper maintenance...from what I'm told, it's a good wax, and treatment for the leather next? Also, a quick oil change to flush out any ugliness from the new engine?

Yup, bra was installed at the dealership, but I think it was "a guy" the dealer knew. Whoever he was, he did a great job =)
