AT shift program seems to shift too quick

I just got my G 4 days ago
Love it

Decided on AT because I live in LA and put up with traffic on a daily basis

The automatic shift program seems to shift way too early not giving a lot of time in one gear
Anyone else experience something like this?

Not a huge problem but just wondering if maybe something can be adjusted

It's normal for the tranny to shift quickly to top gear under normal accelleration. It's better for economy.
Only was to delay it is to push harder on the loud pedal, or go to manual mode.

The auto trans in the G35 is computer controlled and will adapt to your current driving habits. If you are in stop and go traffic or are driving conservatively the transmission will shift at lower RPM's. If you start to drive aggressively the transmission will hold shifts longer.

That's a good point that the tranny is 'adaptive' to your driving habits and will have some bearing on shifting patterns.

How long does it keep new patterns for? I have an 06 AT coupe. I can feel that for a few seconds after relatively aggressive acceleration that car tends to upshift later. A few seconds later it returns to its normal shifting pattern. Is it normal? Should it keep this more aggressive pattern longer? How is it controlled?
