when does your radar go off? I've had the x50 for a couple weeks now and it seems like the X, K and all the other radars are always door sensors. But I've had the pop go off about 3 times now and everytime it has went off, a cop has been right there. So is pop basically the cop radar? or do some still have the x and the k? How's your guy's experience?
It is in Cali. I drove cross country with the x50 and it saved my *** 5 times (Ka and X). I was going at least 20-30 mph over the limit. In Cali, the cops don't use radar that much in cars and they use POP when they do.

just got mine a week ago, but hasnt detected anything yet. i did round a bend with a cop behind a hill. i saw him aiming his radar up the road (opposite direction), but nothing went off, is something wrong?
What is POP is it just another radar? I just learned that my POP was not on my Bel a few hours ago, i've never been pulled over for speeding with my detector so far but the first time I drove after I turned it on, sure enough POP flashed for a second.. Is it something like laser radar? It's just a radar burst? Does this radar require the cop being very close as opposed to KA going off 2 miles away?
Sup Guys...
Set your "City Mode" on X low or none to minimize all the random X ness.
Don't know if you knew....
Hope it's helpful

rj515..i think its better if you keep everything on default and turn pop on as well. Basically cops have new radar guns and they use POP radar. They think that radar detectors won't detect them, however 8500 x50 has pop and its really good at detecting pop. gotta love the x50.

ive heard of more people going from passport 8500 to valentine1 than the other way around. performance is similar, both work very well but its up to you if you want to pay extra for some goodies (arrows, etc)
Just got home from work. There was a motorcycle cop sitting on top of the hill with his laser gun. Either my 8500 just saved me from a ticket or the laser couldn't get a good reading on my laser red G35
In this case it wouldn't have made a difference which detector I would have had. I was lucky to have been driving at a reasonable speed where I was able to slow down enough to make it look like I was at least trying to obey the law.
By the way I didn't need arrows, it was flashing "LASER"
