Auto Transmission

Is there anything that can be done on an automatic coupe 06 to make the gear shifts more responsive or to make gear shiftings faster? And by doing so, will i gain any more power in a sort of way? I've heard of a torque converter, does it have anything to do with what i want? Thanks guys!

Transgo valve body shift kit...it will shift fast and hard under hard acc...but drive like stock when just cruising.I am twin turbo'd and it will snap your neck back when pushing it hard.

Yes i have the 5at and have over 80,000 miles with boost.Make sure you get a large trans cooler also and a torque convertor is not needed unless you do a lot of 1/4 mile drag racing.

Sorry if this is alittle off topic but do you guys have rough downshifts when in tip tronic on the 5AT? Sometimes when I stop and let the car downshift itself in tip tronic mode it has a rough downshift to first.

OK...I'm going to do you a Hugh favor...send me a PM and I will send you a Sprintbooster. If it does what you want we can negotiate a price. I replaced my original one with the three phase model because my wife was not comfortable the original is full on all the time. Just send me a PM and in 10 minutes you may have your solution. I'm editing only to let you know a Transgo valve body will cost about $800 installed. PM me...try this and I can save you about $700. If you find it to be useless then I if you would just mail just mail it back to me for $5.00 bucks!!

^yeah do what blackcoupe says, and if that doesn't work get an osirus flash tune which can alter some of those driving characteristics. Finally, if that doesn't solve it go get a transgo upgrade to your existing valvebody. Shops charge $800 install including trans fluid drain and fill and the transgo kit itself is $200.

Good thread! I've been wondering about A/T with a Vortech on my 04.
Exactly what is it that they are warning about not up- shifting and will both the valve body upgrade and sprintbooster solve it?

Thanks!

Those will change shift quality per se but will not make the gears bind any tighter than "stock."

You don't really need both. A Transgo and a SprintBooster. If you have the money Transgo is the best and provides a permanent fix. SprintBooster plugs into the top of your throttle pedal and reduces throttle lag which in turn improves shifts. It costs $299. ships for free and you can return it within 30 days if it doesn't work for you...remove it...send it back. Save another $800 dollars and go Transgo.

I have read in multiple threads that Transgo is not very comfortable for a stock car. You constantly get rough/sharp shifts that you eventually get tired off cuz it feels like you shift a car with a sledge hammer. And it possibly has more wear on your transmission in the long run because of hard shifts.

That is the second reason I went with SprintBooster in 5 minutes it can be removed when it's time to sell the car.
