VRooonmmmmmm
half a second
POP
with or without the stereo on and seems to come outta the speakers, kinda like a old record player skipping or someone droppin the needle on a record.

Re: POP noise right after starting
From the G35 owner's manual:
"The computer has a built in diagnostic feature
that tests the system each time you start the
engine and move the vehicle forward or in
reverse at a slow speed. When the self-test
occurs, you may hear a clunk noise and/or feel
a pulsation in the brake pedal. This is normal
and is not an indication of a malfunction."
Might be what you're hearing...

Re: POP noise right after starting
It happens when I start the car ...INTERMITTANTLY .. in a stop position...
you know how the dash lights come on automatically right away . it happens right then seemingly like a pop out of the speakers .
SH*T
I say intermittently because, it happens say in the morning ... wait like 2 minutes of running and restart the car and it DOES NOT HAPPEN.
SH*T
not a big deal ... but electrical issues are real potential problem.
Thanks fellas

Re: POP noise right after starting
Well, I taking the car over to the dealer today....
It was raining yesterday and it did not do it as loud ...it happened evertime I restarted but like I say... no even half as loud.
Did it this morning in the underground all dry down there as loud as it ususally does ... but restarted it and nope. Mind you if I go start it now 5 hours later, I'm sure it'll happen.
What the hell is wrong with it ... how could my ride be the only one.
I got a bloody lemon, I'm pissed off. I just wanna start it up and not have to worry.

Re: POP noise right after starting
Hey Dally..........I believe the hollow sounding POP noise you hear from the rear of the "G" is coming from under the back seats. The fuel tank is located there...I suspect it is the fuel pump pressurizing. My Maxima used to HUMM for second while the pump was charging. The POP I get is intermittent, that is it's loudest when the car has sat overnight. First thing on startup as soon as the key is turned, microseconds before the engine starts is...............POP!!!!
Don't worry about it...I've had it since day one..4 months and 2000 miles ago.

Re: POP noise right after starting
hmmmm ... close but no cigar.
this is the event chain
put in key (obvious)
turn over
nnnnananannanan
cluster lights come on (POP)
vrooom from mufflers
idles out normal
restarting may cause pop or may NOT
BUT
I did this as a test .... I turned the key half way till the cluster lights come on and the fuel is primed up... for a second or two ... and then start it ...
where as the cluster lights will turn off during starting and then back on till start up
VROOM
and IT DOES NOT POP
I dunno.
