My engine is a replacement that had been sitting outside for a few years so that makes sense that they could've worn out. Is that something I should replace ASAP?

I posted my experience before on a different but similar topic thread. When I first bought my car a couple of years ago I would smell burning rubber when I'm at a stop light or home in my garage. I chalked it up to brand new tires as mentioned in another thread but after a couple of months the smell would not go away. I had checked the belts and leaks etc. I finally checked the bottom of the car and found that my shifter boot/cover was hanging. The boot cover was rubbing on my driveshaft and had been eaten away by the driveshaft...the driveshaft tunnel was covered in black rubber shaving and the cause of my burning rubber smell.

I'll run through everything when I check it out this weekend. Hopefully it's something simpler than changing my valve gaskets. Maybe get a definitive answer for this type of malfunction
