Thanks bro. I figure if you let your maintenance stack up, you'll be so over your head you won't be able to breathe. once you get over your head your car starts running like **** and starts breaking down. cheaper to nip it in the butt.

Do you use a professional tool or come up with something yourself? I'm just curious about how you connected it to the the fuel rail. I do have an adapter that goes between the damper and fuel rail (I use to check pressure) and was thinking of building/making something that I can connect into this to clean my injectors and rails out.

Also, a lot of it is driving habits. Like I said, Google "hypermiling" and it has a lot of great stuff. It's like hotrodding for mpg. I used to own a first gen Honda insight that I got 61mpg in. It has a huge nodding community like the G, only they mod for mileage. One guy got up to 80mpg (I think he lived in a flat state tho. I live in socal, so the hills keep me from tha much mpg). Getting the best mpg getsjust as addicting as having the fastest car. Cool stuff.

Dude I've looked through this thread and it doesn't say much, besides getting o2 sensores checked. I'm running premium gas and synthetic oil. Don't know what else to do

Ok, what weight oil are you using? What's yer air filter look like? What type is it? What numbers do you have when you get yer car smogged (if applicable)? Is your driving mostly city or hwy? What mods do you have? What psi do you keep in your tires? What type of tires do you have? When's the last time you changed plugs? How is your alignment? All of these will answer why your mileage is bad. If they all check out to be tip top, then its gotta be driving habits.

i take my car to jiffy lube for synthetic, i think they checked my air filter and said it was good. it is the stock filter. smog is n/a. 60%-%40 city-hwy. mods include 20inch axis rims sitting on 275 30 20 245 35 20, they are falken pt 722. my mileage is 120k and i just bought it last month. i havent changed the spark plugs, alignment is good.

Folks, its unlikely that swapping O2 sensors will make that much of a difference unless they are seriously jacked. I've owned my G since new, service it religiously, and have consistently gotten about 16-18 MPG in city driving, with some dips into 15 during winter driving (more ethanol in the fuel).

Only way to get 18 in all city driving is to really baby the car, shift at 1500RPM, etc. and I didn't buy the car to have to do that. I can't think of any V6 cars I've owned (including my '92 Nissan 300ZX) that have done any better than 16-18 mpg in city driving.

I had an 89 v6 camaro that got 37mpg. Of course it was a 2.8L. And you're right, O2 sensors alone will not do a whole lot, but this is a collective effort, like weight relief, so let's start at the top (btw, your 16-18 city is super decent. He's talking about 12.5mpg. Not acceptable).

So, first did you mean its an OEM filter or the stock (as in original) air filter? If so, that's insane. So, an engine is an air pump you want air in and out with the most efficient and complete fuel burn possible. I would suggest getting a K&n filter, a z-tube (the stock air tube is baffled which is very inefficient because it creates a lot of turbulance), change your spark plugs, and if you're so inclined remove the resonator from your exhaust (of course that will change the sound too, so that may come later). Also, pump your tires to max psi and make sure your toe is in spec (It creates drag and ruins tires if its out). Next time you buy tires be sure to get a treadwear rating of 400 or better (but only for non snow driving). Do those things and I wouldn't doubt you'd pick up 2-3mpg. Doesn't seem like a lot, but it adds up. G35fromPA is correct too: rearrange your driving habits.

If that doesnt do anything I would get it smogged and look at those numbers. Those can tell you how well your cats and O2 sensors are working.

***need help here***

So I decided to run a test of my car since I felt like my fuel sensor is acting up. I filled my car all the way up and the gauge read full. It always takes a minute for it to reach full but it will read 1 notch under full after I fill up... Then I drove around (pretty much all city) and got my gas gauge down to E and the needle right below the bottom notch. Then I filled up again, I could only fill up with 16.2 gallons and I only got 219 miles since my last fill up. This spells out 13 miles per gallon, what bothers me is the car has a 20 gallon tank and it would only let me full up 16.2 gallons when I was practically on fumes..... Any ideas guys????

The extra 4 gallons is a reserve. This confused me for a long time and then guess what I did?

I ran it with the gas light on for a long a$$ time. Guess what happened? All of the sudden the gas light switched off and the needle went to 1/4 tank. It's a 16 gal tank but 20gal capacity.

13mpg tho. That ***** rough.

Well apparently its not a "reserve" cuz its still part of the main tank. It's just the way the stupid gauge is set up. Cuz I've never been able to get over 15.5 gallons with the light on either. I know others complain about it too, but all the specs say 20gal. Give it a shot next time you run low. Carry a gas can with you if it makes you feel better. I swear after a little while yer gauge goes up to 1/4 tank (which is obviously 4 more gallons according to the gauge).

Well I did some reading and the findings are true, the g carries about 4 gallons after the gas gauge reads empty. I feel a lot better about it now, but I am still getting really bad gas mileage. I'm gonna blame it on 10 degree weather and a little bit of my lead foot!
