Window Motor Reset... nothing under button!
I don't understand this... hopefully someone can help me out. I was having a problem with my window motor. Occasionally it wouldn't respond and I'd have to hit the switch a couple times. Finally, it died. I took it apart and realized the motor brushes were worn down, so I replaced those. Good as new. BUT, when I went to reset the motor, nothing worked. Out of curiosity I took the rubber button off to make sure everything was aligned, and noticed there was nothing under it but plastic. I figured it was misaligned, so I pulled the lid off to see what was going on and that's where I'm completely stuck. It looks like everything is aligned the way it should be, but there is nothing for the rubber reset button to press against. I'm totally confused... it did work before the brush repair. Is there a piece that somehow went missing? I've looked all over the internet to try to get an idea what these things look like when pulled apart, and can't find anything. If someone has a spare one that died and you can pry the lid off, I'd really appreciate it!! I can't spend $200 to $300 for a new motor just because the stupid reset switch. At the same time, it is so annoying having the window drop an inch every time I open the door and not roll back up when I close the door.

I got it from an RC hobby shop called Gyro Hobbies (GyroHobbies.com). They might do mail order, or you can call up an RC hobby shop in your area and ask if they carry brushes. They'll probably need to know the size. I took my worn out ones in with me and they matched them up pretty good.

Well I guess that button is more of a disk stopper than an electronic gadget. I tried everything, and the window just would not reset. Apparently the motor was just malfunctioning and I had no option other than to buy a new motor. Some dealers will charge you up to $300, but I bought mine from an Infiniti dealership that sells on ebay for maybe $160 or $170. Make sure if you do that, it's coming from a dealership. You don't want a refurbished part of some aftermarket brand. Even though some aftermarkets have lifetime warranties, you don't want to have to replace them once or twice a year... even for free. As far as the labor, it's no big deal at all. I have the service manual, but I think there are probably DIY tutorials online. A good number of screws, but don't let that intimidate you. After I finally changed the motor out, I wondered why the hell I waited so long. Having a window that doesn't work or that drops for no reason is so frustrating. So it's not the switch, it's the motor. And I tried EVERYTHING and could not repair the motor. Good luck!
