Why the Ebay Coupe Diffuser [still] doesnt fit right

So with my eye for parts I was able to identify one way to get my diffuser from ebay i paid 70 bux for to fit better. I dont have any before pics, but the LS was basically hanging off and looked pretty bad.

I don know what kind of mold these things come from, but it should be the same and this is what I NOTICED ON MY PARTICULAR diffuser. You first measure and verify.

All it was I noticed there was more material on the bottom here compared to the RS, which fit much more snug. I simply dremeled some of the material away.

you can see after cutting the edge is about 8.5mm

While the right is 7-8mm

Final fit. I used two layers of 3m double side tape at the upper corners.

My bumper was pushed in on the LS and is a bit warped.

I STILL would not recommend these if your car isnt black. what ever color your car is, it will peek from behind the diffuser.

that honestly looks ALMOST as bad as your grimey *** nails...cut those things.

and btw, I made the terrible mistake of buying an ebay diffuser and I can tell (by yours too) that the edges of the diffuser don't roll and blend with the rear bumper. it's too square so you get a shelf-effect and it looks awful. so I returned mine and bought a legit one, you don't get that shelf look with quality diffusers. check out ionic dynamics, its still a replica but a much better rep with much better fitment.

I agree on the nails and the Ionic diffuser. I bought a no name one on here and I had my body guy "Make" it fit by doing the same thing. I'm happy with it now but the Ionic ones STILL fit better. I still didn't want to pay 250 to 300 for an Ionic tho.

One came with my Diamond Graphite coupe and wow does it looks bad. But I'm too lazy to remove it so I guess it will sit there for a few more months.

I dont understand why you are shocked. That is the same logic as going raw dog on a stripper in Mexico then acting shocked when you find out your have the Herp.

How many times have I recommended not buying anything from ebay? I've quit counting because unless the seller is a dealership or it's OE new in the box you're buying trash! IONIC sells diffusers, painted and they're perfect...Gary

I'm not surprised or complaining, I did some research before I bought it n figured I cud make it work. I only bought the eBay diffuser because I have a black car. I agree czp and ionic have better fitting diffusers tho i Found out after the fact. I think these pieces really look good on the G so I just had to have one. I'm willing to bet if I trimmed more from both sides if it cud at least cover the outline of the oem bumper.

about the nails, my whole hands were beat since I had been doing car stuff all day.

My suggestion is drilling small holes on the side of the diffuser and then zip tie. It would bring in more plus it might not fall off vs using 3m tape.
that's my experian from my e46m3 diffuser I got back then

Thanks to everyone who has chimed in and recommended our diffusers.

One thing that I'd like to point out is that even the OEM Nismo diffuser that we used to make our prototype had minor fitment issues. It only makes sense that these other companies that are making copies from multiple copies have so many fitment problems, it's obvious that quality isn't their main concern.

thje problem is that they didn't round out and taper the endges so it has a nice clean and flush look. it looks like they took a big cookie cutter and pressed it on a huge sheet of carbon fiber and poof, you have a crappy diffuser...I can't really talk, I did the same thing and thought I could make it work.

as ionic said, even with their diffuser I had some minor fitment issues. I brought mine to a body shop and had them use a poly-type adhesive and they installed it correctly. way worth the extra bills for niceness
