My 04 coupe has 82k miles, I got the belts replaced, but afterwards I have a loud screeching whining noise coming from the engine, sounds like its the passenger side. Have no idea why. It only happens during cold starts and only lasts a couple of mins. Never during warm starts, andsometimes when ac is turned on. Any ideas?

Belt is not adjusted properly. Bring it back to the place that changed it and have them adjust it, or do it yourself. It's a piece of cake to do the serpentine belt on our cars. It's also possible that they used a really crappy belt or got some oil or something on it which could be causing it to slip.

Think of it like an XS tshirt fitting onto a Gym rat. At first its small, and after the gym rat wears it for a while it stretches out. It will never go back to its original size....
Your belt stretched out and is now loose. That sound is the belt being loose, get it tightened.

i have had a pulley go bad on my civic a while back. it made the same noise. at first though it was the belt being loose but i tightened it and still made the noise. took it to my mechanic and it was a bad pulley.
