My guess is that the 0-60 times will be about the same but the 1/4 mile time will be faster. Torque and HP are directly related thus at 4800 RPM the pre 05's have more horsepower and torque. At 6400 RPM the 05's have more horsepower and torque. I would imagine that a@ 5500 plus is where you will notice the biggest difference in the 05's. resulting in better performance in 2nd - 6th gears (where you are mostly running in your upper RPM's) but roughly the same in 1st where you are using most of your powerband. The difference will be more noticeable on the track than on the street.

see.. the 03 or 04 has to go pass the redline zone in 2nd gear to get to 60mph, but for the 05, with the extra rpm, it did not have to pass the redline zone to reach 60mph. So, what i'm saying is that for 03 or 04 to get to 60mph in 2nd gear will be bad for the engine, coz you are in the redline zone.
redlining the engine will be bad in the long run.

As a reference point, Road and Track (the worst drivers in the business) was able to shave .2 seconds off the 350Z's time. Of course, I'm making a comparision between the 03-05 350Zs, but the engine upgrades are very similar. I believe they got 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds, which is the worst 350Z time ever. As a matter of fact, they got the worst G35c6 0 to 60 time too at 5.9 seconds and 14.1 1/4 mile. I don't know, but I always thought that cars that run that close to 14 flat should be running at least 0 to 60 in 5.6 seconds. I don't think they're launching the FM cars properly.

Ok, so I was kind of curious on how my new 6mt does to 60. I have 995 mil on it now so I thought I'd give it a go. Well, I know this is highly inaccurate but I did it with the stopwatch in my left hand and keeping a close eye on the speedo. So I expected times to be off but I got times from 7.2 - 8.5. I don't get it, yes VDC was off. I know I'm not a profesional driver but could the times be that slow. This isn't an s2000 where you have to drop the clutch at 7000 rpms. I am probably at about 3000 ft above sea level. Any thoughts guys, and let's keep the "you're a sucky driver" coments to a minimum please.

My 05 G35Coupe AT, using a GTimer(we all know they aren't hard science, but reasonbaly close)
I am at 2800 ft elevation in the high desert of southern cal
I can pull 6.0 secs flat totally stock using Manual Mode to hit redline
A stop watch while you are driving is a terible way to do it.
also, how flat is the road, wind, temperature, etc... these all play a part
Also keep in mind that at a drag strip, you have a rollout of about 12 inches
(that is to say the clock doesn't start till you've moved 12 inches) that can mean a 0.2 - 0.4 sec difference to your stop watch if you start right as you hit the gas.
Some day I may go to a strip, just to 'calibrate' the Gtimer, but it isn't that important, I don't race, it is only for me to have a baseline as I do mods

I've talked to Infiniti's consumer affairs department on numerous occaisions trying to get a quote from Nissan for the 0to60 time on the 05 6mt G35 coupe. I've heard a couple of times that Nissan motors doesn't publish this kind of info, but the 2 times I received an actual number I was quoted 5.7 sec and 5.8 sec. I was hoping for 5.4, but who among us could really tell that kind of difference.
