Lip and Splash Guards

So I decided to install a Front lip and splash guards on the G. Purchased the OEM splash guards and the after market lip on ebay. Read about painting polyurethane plastic parts and watched several youtube videos. I will post pictures of the work in progress. The plash guard fitting process was a breeze, the lip was a little harder, but not to bad. I used some spare aircraft hardware I had saved instead of the hardware that came with the lip. Pulled out my old paint gun and surprise, surprise it still works. The gun was used to apply the Adhesive Promoter and the Clear Coat. I ordered two aerosol cans of Base Coat online from www.automotivetouchup.com. I am very happy with the final results, everything is painted and ready to install tomorrow.

The nut plate clips are used to secure aircraft interior liners and floorboards, I picked them up at a place I use to work at.

I was impressed, they did a great job mixing the color. The aerosol cans sprayed flawlessly.

I am actually very happy with the lip, I wanted the front spoiler look and this one had the simple style I was looking for. The price was hard to beat too, $69.99 including shipping http://www.ebay.com/itm/371063088827...84.m1497.l2649 .

The quality is descent, and it fits very nicely. I did not care for the pop rivets provided in the installation kit to attach it to the fender, so I used my own hardware. I would buy it again if I had too.

Installation was easy, I did all the fitting prior to painting. I had my 15 year old son give me a hand during the fitting process. I do have a garage full of tools, so the whole process for me was a piece of cake.

I used less than one aerosol can of base coat on it. I would calculate one can of adhesive promoter and two of clear coat to be on the safe side. The paint would probably run you about $45 including shipping. The youtube videos show you how to prep polyurethane parts for painting. Hope that helps.

Splash Guards installed, I definitely think the car has a better look with them installed. Next project will be the valve cover gaskets.

Very nice lookin coupe Wuzz! After you do the valve cover gaskets spend a few more $ and get clear sides, those orange OE sides look like a pimple on a pretty girls bottom!

Excellent idea, I have my replacement headlights coming my way, I will look for those clear sides now and install them when I replace the headlights. Thanks for the great suggestion.
