After getting tired of look at my dirty calipers I decided to paint them. Yes they're stock but I have the 2006 G35 front brake set up with cross drilled & slotted rotors and Hawk pads all the way around. I wanted to keep a clean look so rather than the red paint I went black. I found these vinyl Mt. Fuji Logos on Ebay so I put those on and clear coated the entire caliper. Also, when I originally painted the hats of the rotors, I didn't go as far as I should have so while the calipers dried I repainted the rotors. I wish I would have done progress pictures but I forgot lol. I think it's a nice touch and really cleans up that area, and only $30 spent.

I actually bought the same brand and color caliper paint and the decals aswell but I've been too picky to do it yet because I still have stock rotors.

 

Looks good, but the green on the rotors needs to go. Looks out of place

 

That's one of the colors I'm going with for my "theme", it's Grabber Green. I'm painting the faces of the wheels a deep black so once that's done it'll fit well. Here's some updated pictures:

I can answer this.

I used this paint on some rotors on my my Mustang. Just painted them silver so they looked clean.

Participated in an autoX event and after 1 run, the paint was bubbling and peeling. It didn't hold up at all.

I have pics somewhere if really interested in seeing before and after.

However, i used the same paint on my G35 which is just daily driven and it's held up fine even with a few hard stops here and there.

 

Did you use a primer and clear coat? I've tracked it after painting the rotors and it looks fine. I also used engine enamel for the rotors though.

 

Yup. Brand new rotors. Cleaned with alcohol, primed and then painted. Drove it for a while with it looking pretty good.

Trashed in 1 hard autoX session.

Used the same paint on my G35 rotors when i installed new ones. Held up very well for a few years until I got new rotors that had black painted hats. The need to be redone though



I'm just **** about my brakes looking clean and new.

 

Mine wouldn't get real hot until the next Raging Bull Texas Stampede...

 

I did beat the ever living snot out of the car during that session. Brakes were smoking and I trashed my tires pretty well...might have had something to do with it. :-)
