Start up squeak

Need some help with this guys, every morning when i turn on my car to head out to work, my car makes a high pitch squeak and then after 20-25 sec it goes away. My first thought is "the belt needs to be replaced" but im not sure thats the problem or its a diff problem. I sprayed the belt but the problem is still there.

I don't know how old they are. I bought the car about 6 months ago. Can the cold weather affect the belt?

It makes start up a bit tougher. Check the belts inner and outer (if poss) for cracks. I usually go with if I can't read it I need to replace it.

Once you replace it you will have to re tighten it after 50 miles or so.

And on serpentine belt systems you never. I repeat never.... Spit belt dressing on the belts or track parts. Friction is good for the belts, slipping is not.

Change the belts. It is one of the belts. They are cheap, and can be replaced with a few simple tools. They around a little over 40 bucks for both of them. Keep the old ones in the trunk around the spare tire for a spare (you never know).

If you like to mod, get rid of the extra pulley, if you want one less rotating part robbing power. This will require a different size belt, since you are getting rid of one of the idler pulleys. Not going to feel a difference, but hey, why not while you're at it?

help?????

So finally i got a chance to change the serpentine belts and since i was already down there i decided to change the pulleys as well. I thought this would fix the problem but it didnt, it feels like the squeaking takes longer to go away now. I need help guys, i dont know what the issue is but its drives me crazy everytime i turn on the car n i hear the loud squeak.

Did you tighten the belts till they only have about 1 inch of play in the longest strand of connection?

If they squeak after a belt change then they aren't tight enough. The FSM has all the details on how tight it should be.

If they still squeak, they are loose.
If they are too tight, they don't squeak, they snap.

Check the play in the longest piece of the belt between pulleys.
I bet it is still too loose.

My belts were squeaking when I bought the car, but only when cold.
Swapped out the belts, and it still squeaked.
Tightened up the new belts a second time, and the squeak is 99% gone. Only get a quick chirp every now and then on cold start up. I can live with that until the next time I take the lower guard off.
