Lowering my 04 g35 coupe
#18
Best install your springs or coilovers, drive around for a few days so the suspension has settled and get an alignment. Once it's done ask the tech doing the alignment how far off OE specs you are and how that will effect your tire wear. We hear members like Brooks who claim they don't have tire wear after installing lowering springs however, there are far more that do start eating tires. I'm on Tein 350Z H-Techs with a 1" gap over the top of my tires, without a camber kit the Bridgestones I was running went away in a short time.

Gary, I never claimed anything. He asked about lowering his car on a mild drop and I gave MY TRUE experience. Like I said before I've been on my drop for awhile now (longer than a year) AND AFTER MY DROP I DON'T NEED A CAMBER KIT. If I knew how to post pics I would but, why would I lie about something so trivial when asked about my experience and opinion on a topic. To me that's silly. Again, I look at my coupe daily tires and all and after my drop I DON'T NEED A CAMBER KIT. If he and others looking for a mild drop reads my post and follows my advice they too may not need a camber kit. I'm not the only one enjoying the need for no camber kit. Saywat is in the same delightful boat I'm in.
Saywat, I agree with you , so many people run from these springs not understanding these springs give a beautiful ride. Unless you're tracking your coupe there's no need to go lower and although my coupe looks and corners beautifully, I'm purchasing a set of the Tanabe swaybars to compliment my NF210's. The only thing I ask myself is should I get the Tokico HP's or the Tokico D-specs when my factory shocks and struts wear out.

it's not that he's saying you're lying, it's just hard to believe that you're the only G that wouldn't need a camber/toe kit after lowering your car when everyone else would benefit from one even in stock form. Maybe you're just ok with how it rides, and thats fine, but i guarantee you would benefit from a camber kit, even if it's just for ride quality.

When I first lowered my G I was looking forward to purchasing a camber kit but, I decided to wait and see how my tires wore after I lowered it. I bought my coupe on the 13th of December, 2013. Lowered it a couple days later. I drive it everyday from Sunday to Sunday on all different types of roads mostly some of the worst roads imaginable and, like I said again I check my tires at least twice a day sometimes more and no camber kit needed. For those that don't believe that's your choice. I'm just giving my experience to those looking to do a mild drop as well. I do all the work on my coupe from oil changes to installing the intake, cat back exhaust system, lowering springs and any other mod. I know cars, been around them all my life. I once saw my dad start an engine while it was sitting in the hall inside our house and he was one of the best mechanics I've ever seen. He could fix and build anything. Now, I have his gift And I've worked on just about everything from Porches to Nissans And I love it. For those that don't believe, you keep on disbelieving, I have more than enough people to back up what I'm saying and I'll keep on enjoying my coupe and the way it rides. One more thing. I don't baby my coupe. I build it to run and whenever I can, I run it hard. What's the use of modifying your car if you never experience the benefits.

I have an 05 G coupe and I'm sitting on 20's. 20x8.5 and 20x10's (off set is 20). I'm lowered on a set of Tanabe NF210 lowering springs that give a 1 inch drop in the front and a .60 inch drop in the rear. I've been on this setup for almost 2 years. I'm running 255 35 20's in the front and 275 30 20's rear. I'll be switching to 285 whenever the 275's wear out. As for a camber kit, you may not need one since the drop is mild. I check my front and rear tires at least twice a week or more and NO SIGNS OF THE INNER TIRES WEARING OUT PREMATURELY. The rear is fine also. I'm running on Falken PT-722 all season ultra high performance tires (they're ok tires) . Instead of rolling my fenders, I'm going to have a small portion of the rear fender lip cut because the rear rubs just a little over some bumps but, not all the time. I've seen my brother do this on one of his cars and when it's done right, it's better than rolling the fenders you don't have to worry about chipping the paint and since the tires will have more clearance, their's no worrying about the fender cutting into the tires. What I would do is this. If you're going for a mild drop than do what I did and order the Tanabe NF210's, get an alignment and see how your inner front and rear tires hold up. If you need a camber kit later, buy one but, if you don't why spend money on something you may not need. Put that money on another mod. I wish I could sticky this somewhere for those wondering if they need a camber kit on a mild drop. One more thing with the mild drop I have my coupe looks crazy hot and my rims are Rennen C-10's. They look way better in person.
