05 headlights very fogged.. replace or clean.?

My 05 coupe with 65k miles has the typical headlight issue regarding not very clear and does not look great..

I've had them cleaned and helped somewhat but really is there a way to get them looking new or should I replace?

If replace, projector headlights?
Who do you buy these from? I hear people spending $700 On headlights.
Is That about right?

Thanks

replacing them may be a bit more difficult if you want to go to projector headlights. Yeah, they're in the $700 range and they're going up because they're becoming more and more scarce.

Now, quite some time ago, I was all about projectors headlights. The price kind of scared me, but, like everything I wanted on this car, I just figured I'd save up and get them. Then, I saw these....'

They didn't quite look like this when I met Junichi (the red car is the newest version), a few years ago. But, I'm in love with what he's done with them. rainbowbrite35 (or nurse35....aka Chris) is a (no longer active) member on here who also opted to stay with the factory 03-05 non-projector headlights. His also look amazing.

So, if you CAN keep them and polish them up, there's definitely life here. And, it may be the only option if you don't hop on a pair soon.

Thanks so much..
So is it possible to fully resurrect these lights to that quality?
I'm willing but have made a few attempts already..

Yeah. It takes some time. But, it's definitely worth it and doable. I've done my lights, but they don't look this good. Once I get the gumption to take them back out, I'll probably hit them again. I won't be able to drive the car for another couple of weeks yet anyway. (need to clear up this salt before she sees daylight again).

OP, check out this thread. I've sub'do for long term updates on the sealant. Mine look pretty good until the lights are on and then see a bit of haze. I'll be doing this within the next couple of weeks. After you polish them sealing is key.

The best headlight restore kit is made by 3M which includes everything you'll need to bring them back to as new condition or you could find a shop in your area that restores headlights. Average cost in SoCal is right at $99= so you have choices. Replacing your headlights would cost you far more, but not a bad idea if you upgrade to '06+ projectors...Gary

Look here OP, I used this thread when I chose to wetsand my headlights. https://g35driver.com/forums/care-de...at-anyone.html

I chose to use a 3m rubbing compound and turtle wax polishing compound. And they came out perfect.

I'm impressed. Cover it with a clear cost though to preserve the perfection.

Wetsanding and polishing can restore your headlights. Apply some sort of clearcoat to bring back its natural protection from UV rays.

You can check with Outcast Garage to see if they make a replica of THAT, but you won't find that one. It was an almost one off from across the pond way back in like 11/12/13 time frame when the forums were active, Dre still had his G, Shane still posted sick fitment, Marcus still was on coils, and a host of other folks were really reshaping the game. And that splitter was close to 2k THEN. However, like I said, I THINK Outcast Garage makes a rep of this. They've really been stepping it up and providing a lot of "one-off" parts for the G. They aren't really 1-off, but they're rare and affordable.
