I believe you must be a Premium member as XCELR8 said in his other post, or else if you are a moderator or administrator you will get that priveledge of using an avatar. I believe this program is being updated right now. Perhaps one of the mods or Admins can elaborate.
Here is a description of it from the "paid subscriptions" under your "user cp":

Yup. I am also planning on becoming a Premier Member as soon as Kyle posts the revised membership subscription descriptions, which I read somewhere on the site that it should be very soon. I believe this site deserves our support, it is a very well run site and also the fellow users are always so helpful as well as entertaining sometimes .

We've run expansion numbers for the site, as well as done extensive polling on members' expectations and price models. Keeping in mind a) the % of members willing to donate at different prices, and b) different price structures, our break-even price is about $31. That means that without spending anything out of pocket, and with sponsors doing their thing, the site can sustain itself x% of members pay $31. We'll eat the cost and make it $29, just because it looks cleaner

That being said, it won't be for everyone. $29 seems like a bit up front, but ends up being less than $3 a month. If you feel that is too much to pay, that's fine. If we kept the price at $19, we wouldn't have had a sufficient volume increase in paying members to cover the price gap. Kyle's been running this site pretty much at a loss for 3 years. He's grown it to 17,000 members and almost half a MILLION posts. Some Admins spend about 6 hours a day working on this site. And we've been paying (in opportunity cost and cash) for the entire time.

I don't think it is entirely unreasonable for the members of the site who benefit from it, and appreciate the work to donate $2.40 a month to help us out with sustaining the site. No one should feel pressured at all. Nothing's changing for regular members that wasn't stipulated up front, so everyone can still post, etc. just as always. If you want a few extras and some added content, though, Premier Membership is always available.

It means that you got in at the ground level when we were testing, and we're very appreciative of your help

Actually it's a custom G35driver license plate frame, not the Infiniti ones they give out at dealerships.
