Agreed^^ plus. It's plug and play. Unlike the 2JZ.

My logic is coming from seeing how these 2js have been dropped and pushed to their limits. All in all this engine has sold for 3-4k with under 40,000 miles and runs 550hp stock, that's about the limit I'd say atleast.. They sell swap engine mounting kits to drop them in the g which include wire adapters also which run 1.5k. Then we have the trans straight out of the supra that comes with the 2j and that's good for about 500hp stock with boost... This is all 4500$.. The cast iron hold up better than aluminum. Cast iron is stronger than aluminum it may be heavier but worth it in the long run. I'm hoping in the end once even axles and differential is replaced I can be pushing 600hp for under $15,000.

It isn't plug and play but with the mounting swap kits I've found the have wiring adapters that are the exact same thing and make it basically a plug and play type thing

Nope. Just wondering if anyone had any better ideas I know what I'm doing I've just seen some builds on here and expected someone who's done it to step in with advice for along the way of the build. A fully built 2j is good for up to 1500+ hp... Just thought maybe someone would step in and say hey look I've done this and this is what you need to look out for you know?

You may want to look into a LQ block it's basically a cast iron LS. Found in most Chevy/Gm/Cadillac trucks. May be actually purchase a brand new or slightly used block pretty cheap. Ranges from 5.3-6.0 I believe and cast iron so u can still bore and stroke the hell out of it if u want to. Gl

I'm just going to stick with the 2j, already cast with forged internals stock but I DO NEED A TRANSMISSION that can hold the power, need a transmission that can withstand up to 1000 hp, under $5,000

1000HP? Thought you were originally targeting 400-500HP?

Anyway, a couple 1000HP capable manuals are the T-56 Magnum, or a G-force T-56 kit http://www.gforcetransmissions.com/tran_gt-56.asp

And there is an adapter plate to mate the T-56 to the 2JZ (there were a few available from multiple vendors)
http://www.rodshop.com.au/index.php/...6-6-speed.html

T-56 magnum under $3K. Unsure which pattern best fits the G35 as there are a few shifter locations and multiple gearsets. Here's a link to one

Still think LSx is the way to go in terms of a powerplant. Just so much technical resource available as well as aftermarket parts and components and support for that engine. However...you run what you want to run and that decision is up to you. If I could, I'd run a new Boss 302 powerplant under the hood of my G35 with a TR6060 transmission. Not cost effective and NO swap kits available, but I have a chubby for the new 5.0 Coyote motors

If you know where to find a built lsx for a good price no doubt, my reasoning is how much potential the stock block has for boost, and that's mostly it, the lsx is no doubt a better choice if built right, because I see boost in the future even for the v8. I've read about the t56 also read up on the supra trans but it's 8k for the 6spd manual.. Let me ask this way.
What would you build/swap in for the motor and trans excluding axles, differential, etc to support it, for $15,000

Ok, here's what I would do if this was my car and I had a $15K budget and wanted a high-HP, engine swapped, manual trans RWD G35.

Like I said before, if money was no object, i'd go with the newer Ford 5.0L Coyote out of a Boss 302 with the matching MT-82 6-spd. 444HP. however, that's a pricey driveline, so i'd stick with a (relatively) cheaper LSx/T56 combo that has been done, with swap kits available, and tech help available as well.

Now, my HP goals would be in the 400-500HP range. I think this is perfect for a street car that you just want to take out and have fun with. When you start going past this number, things get interesting. Reliability is a concern, as you want a car you can idle in traffic, and not overheat, and not break the drivetrain when you jump on the throttle. Plus, I don't know if you've ever driven a 500+ HP RWD car on the street, but it can be a handful. I've driven a few and was downright afraid. My friend had a 1000HP turbo Mustang that ran 9's and it was tempermental on the street, overheated, blew automatic trans all the time, and spent more time being worked on than driven. Sure it was amazingly fast, but the end result didn't justify the work and $$ that went into it.

Anyway, back to the LSx. I'd prob grab a new crate motor, or get a used LS3 out of many of the GM vehicles that were equipped with it.

new LS3 can be had for $7500 with 420HP, or you can spend $1K more and get an LS376 with 480HP.
http://www.chevrolet.com/performance/crate-engines.html

other higher HP engines, but more cost. These are factory built, 400+HP engine that won't overheat, will idle smooth and just make gobs of reliable power.

For trans, T-56. Can be had for $3K new and take the power of the above engine
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/aw...FdY9gQodK2oARw

Swap kit $2500 https://www.sikky.com/view_item.php?id=27&catid=12

Plus you need misc items such as clutch, exhaust, shifter, wiring, etc etc. These are the items that would nickel and dime such a project. For this reason I'd probably try and pick up a used LS motor out of a Corvette with attached T-56. Can prob be had for $5-6K giving you more budget for other items.

But, that's the route i'd go. I'd target 400-500HP, LSx motor with T-56 trans, and know that it's been done so I can ask questions, google, etc whenever I get stuck or need help with something. That alone is worth something to me.

Plus a V8 G35 would sound awesome.

That's exactly what I would do here. I'd more than likely look for the used drivetrain to save costs for supporting hardware
