I believe the best option for our cars is CAI. I tested it on AFR ratio compared to the Short Ram intake, and the CAI takes in WAY MORE AIR. And then tested filters. FOAM IS BY FAR THE BEST FOR AIR FLOW. My opinion based on my testing.

There are no WHP gains in intakes! Exposed cone filters will cost you major hp due to heat soak when it's warm! Only cone filter that seems unaffected is on Stillens CAI but that's the only one. Best option is Z-Tube and a quality drop in filter like AMSOIL. Last time I used foam filters was on my BRE prepped Datsun 510s dual side draft carbs in '72, similar to what the HKS intakes use...Gary

I will keep eye on heat issue now that u mention. But really. Ive always wanted to just buy all these different intakes and test them now that i have afr meter. If im running lean, then good intake. Rich. Then poor intake. So far the AEM CAI with foam filter is outstanding. Sound. Air flow. And hopefully 1 whp lol. considering i have plenum and full exhaust.

I really don't understand how there are no gains from a bumper CAI. My engine hates heat soak. I have an Uprev so I could watch intake Temps and volume, but it's all over the news that CAI is no gain so I never bother.

I'm not worried bout heat soak with my nismo cai. The filters blocked off top to.bottom side to side. Gets all its air from the driver side vent. I don't drive in traffic. I'm good to go
