Tire Pressure

When you pick up your car from the dealer, please check the tire pressure immediately. Although the owner's manual recommend 35psi for the tires, I just found out my car's tires have 60 psi for each.

The dealer forgot to adjust the tire pressure when they delivery the car to me.

Re: Tire Pressure

There's another thread talking about this. Seems like the dealers frequently forget to check the pressure before delivery, but the tires are over-inflated during shipping. Definitely worth a check before taking off!

Re: Tire Pressure

Wow.. My car was delivered with 34.5 PSI cold in all 4. I rasied it to 35, but it made little or no difference.

As an aside, does anyone see air loss from the 18" tires or rims? I don't, but I've seen it in other vehicles and wondered if I should watch for it here, especially with the rims being so close to the road..

Re: Tire Pressure

Cake-- wow 60 PSI is too much. The Pilots are only rated to 51 PSI max.and supposed to be set at 35PSI. Someone didn't do their job at the dealer.
I've been running mine at 38 PSI to see the difference in performance and other than the stiffer ride-- I like it. I always figure the 'sticker' pressures are geared for a soft ride rather than performance and longevity.

Skidmike-- These rims should be ok at least for a while. After they've aged a little the beads may leak a little which will necessitate removal and cleaning. This seems to be typical of cast wheels these days, at least the one's from the factory. I've not had any problems like that with Nissan or Infiniti rims.(yet).

Re: Tire Pressure

Good gracious 60psi how did hey pull that off.

Gs - I was always under the impression that a slightly underinflated tire would give a little bit better traction since more treat would be touching the ground.

Re: Tire Pressure

Tires are overinflated during transport across the ocean. It keeps them from developing a flat spot in transit. The dealers are supposed to lower the pressure as part of the delivery prep. It just got overlooked, kind of like my car was delivered with the plastic protector sheet still on the Nav screen.

Re: Tire Pressure

I still have that plastic thing on my nav screen. Just like my PDA, I'm afraid the screen will get scratched and unable to fix it!!!

Re: Tire Pressure

I also left my plastic thing on the Nav - and a good thing too. Every time I show the Nav to someone new, the first thing they do is touch the screen and say "Hey, nothing's happening."

That's cuz it's not a fricken touchscreen!!!
